Have you had his one year doctor visit yet? This is something you might mention to the doctor. If you can, take a video of him doing it so that you can show it to the doctor. He or she can tell you if it's normal.

This is one for your doctor. Yes, I also recommend making the video, since they're so easy to do now. It could be nothing! If that's the case, you can be happy and not worry about it any more! If there's a problem, the sooner it's addressed, the better.

If he is doing this, when he first is woken up? It might be that he is still tired and his muscles are not engaged. Could be normal, might not be. I would call the Dr and see what they say.

Without actually seeing him do this, I suggest that this is normal. My toddler granddaughter lowers her chin to her chest when she's feeling shy and sometimes when she's playing and it looks like she's thinking.

Definitely take a video and see if you can get a "well visit" to his pediatrician to show him/her the video. Ask if it's normal? Heck, when my daughter is sleepy, she drops her head down too, in a hazy state, then pops it back up. I agree with another comment, maybe it's just his muscles aren't engaged yet?

not to get alarmistic - but contacting your pedi for the boy is a great thing to do - video it definitely. Also keep track of - is there a part of the day it happens more often? does he appear to do it in his sleep at all?

I am thinking Multiple Sclerosis or Muscular Dystrophy - two horrible sounding things that unfortunately HAPPEN. Multiple sclerosis can be treated with diet OR conventional medicine. I'd try diet first as a lot of people are starting to have success with it.

good luck, and hopeful returns for your baby. I hope it is just something to grow out of!
