Hi Mommas!

I am looking for ways to create a sound barrier to minimize baby related sounds in our apartment, for the sake of my neighbors.
Ideas?
Anyone ever used spray on insulation? We'd love any ideas.

Thank you.

egg crate mattress covers have great sound absorbtion. you could put it on the nursery wall that you share with a neighbor with the flat side to the wall. the deeper the notches the better. you could also put the crib on a wall not shared with a neighbor. carpeting or rugs help too - the thicker the better.

I would definitely check woth your apartment complex first - you don't want to do anything that you could get in trouble for putting up - we just moved out of an apartment and my feelings were that when you live in an apartment you have to understand that there are going to be noises (babies, music, etc...) - i wouldn't worry too much - you could check with the front office and see if anyone has complained - but i wouldn't worry too much - your neighbors probably aren't hearing as much as you think they are - we lived next door to another loud little girl and the only time we heard her was when she was outside - i wouldn't worry too much :)

There is a building material called homosote that you can get at hardware stores. I think it is made of recycled cardboard, but you can drill it directly into the wall and it can be painted or left alone. We used this at my place of work to create a sound barrier in our tiny little office. You can also use it as a bulletin board, because is is kindof soft and will hold a thumbtack. It looks a little like sheetrock. Good luck!!! - G.

Spray insulating foam on plywood, Staple regular foam over that, then cover in any style or design of fabric you see fit. Fashionable, and useful.

Suggestion: hang quilts - thick material - on walls.
