I'm considering having lasik surgery, and I'm looking for any pros/cons from anyone who has had it done. About how much did it cost, and is there any doctor in particular you would recommend? I am in oakland county.
Thanks:)

What can I do next?

I'm also considering having LASIK done and just today I noticed that one of the local TV stations is doing an investigation into LASIK complications. I think it's channel 7. I'm going to be watching to see what they have to say. Most people are fine and love it, but, as with any medical procedure, complications are possible, although usually not probable. Some that they mentioned are double vision and blurriness. I'm sure if you asked an eye care professional, they could give you more details. Anyway, you might want to check out the news tonight.

I also live in Oakland County, but I had my Lasik done by Dr. Rahmani (www.rahmani.com) in Brownstown. I went to the website and entered into a drawing to win free lasik. They called me about a month later and I was chosen to receive 1/2 off. I still paid about $2,200. They still have the link on the website to enter. :) Kinda expsensive, but he was really great and I have NO complaints. It was one of the best things I've ever done. Like most places, the consultation is free and price is depending on how severe/not severe your condition is. I don't see any cons (besides maybe the price), only pros!

I had LASIK eye surgery November 2007. I have never been happier. I went to Millman & Derr in Rochester. I would highly recommend Millman & Derr. They are a bit more expensive than some of the other places, but I figured you only have one set of eyes! I think it was about $1500 per eye. I have had no problems and am amazed that I can open my eyes and see -- I was legally blind (-5.5 one eye / -4.5 other eye). I have better than 20/20 now.....20/15 vision!!

I am expecing a my first child, a little boy, in August.
Good luck.

I had it done in 1999 and it was the best decision I ever made. I went to Dr. Speilgeman on Telegraph north of Square Lake. Here's the site: http://eyemichigan.com/.
It cost me $3,600 but I'm pretty sure the price has gone down in 9 years. I've had several friends go to him as well, all with great results.

Hi Kelly!
I am a teacher currently on leave with four boys ages, 5,6,7, & 8. I had lasik surgery six years ago this month done by Dr. Daniel Haddad in the Troy Laser Institute located off Big Beaver. I LOVE IT!!! I wore glasses from 7-14 and contacts from 14 until 41 and couldn't be happier with my $2200 purchase to SEE. I hear it is less expensive now. The only slight problem I had (which worried me for a bit) was dry eyes for about three mos. after. I was upset thinking I was spending more time moisturizing my eyes with drops then I ever fussed with when I wore contacts but it went away and I HIGHLY recommend it.
Good Luck!
M.
