I had Lasik 11 years ago and I still love it. I'm close to having to wear reading glasses but was warned that would happen with age and there was nothing they could do about it. I was no nearsighted that I had to sleep with a watch on because I couldn't see the clock on the side of the bed. THE NEXT DAY my vision was 20/10!!!! Amazing and worth every penny I spent!
But... I was told I was the perfect candidate for Lazik. A friend of mine was told he had some iddue and they did it anyway. His lasik was not successful.

Good luck!

I had Lasik surgery 8 years ago at 43 and it was the best money I ever spent! I had 20/400 vision, which meant I could not function at all without glasses or contacts. After the surgery, I had 20/30 vision, which isn't perfect but does not need correction even for driving. I went without any glasses for five years, then with aging (I'm 51 now) my vision changed just enough that I now wear light correction glasses for distances (driving and movie watching). I still do not need glasses for reading, computer work, or for normal activities at home.

The surgery is over in a few minutes. The results are obvious right away. I donated my glasses on the way out. The recovery time, because I have eyes that tend to be dry, took a little longer than normal but only required that I use eye drops to keep my eyes moist. Then it was hard to remember how "blind" I had been most of my life. I had worn glasses since I was 10 and my vision got worse almost every year of my life after that.

I highly recommend Lasik!

I had mine done 10 years ago, and I LOOOOOOVE it. :) Best investment ever (and please, do not "cheap out" on this. You only get one pair of eyes!). One thing I will warn you about (and that no one bothered telling me) is that the "prep" procedure (where they put in the thing to hold your eye open) *can* be a bit uncomfortable. My other friends who got lasik always scolded me for not warning them.

I got lasik a year ago this week. I'm loving every minute of it! The only con I had was the cost of it. It was expensive...however, I had one of the best surgeons in my state, and was more than willing to pay every cent he asked for. The itchy feeling in the eyes afterward was thwarted when I started putting my eye drops in the fridge and putting them in my eyes when they were cold. (Best feeling ever!!)

These were minor compared to being able to wake up and see. Not having to deal with glasses...I could on and on, but I'm sure you know all the pros, lol!

I had it in both eyes 13 years ago and a touch up in one eye 5 years ago.
The results were fantastic!
The first time I went from extremely nearsighted to 20/20 vision.
If you are a good candidate, then it can work very well.
If your cornea is already very thin or there are a few other reasons to not be a good candidate, then you can get very dry eyes and there can be complications.

yes, i got it 15 years ago, and I LOVE it still. I do have to wear reading glasses now, but I was warned about that. I believe that how they do it now eliminates some of that.

I was blind before lasik. I wore thick coke bottle glasses since I was a kid and as an adult could see nothing when I took my contacs out so I wore them all day every day. I got Lasik in November 2010 and am thrilled with the results. There is a bit of discomfort for a day or two and it did take a few months before my vision at night was perfect. I had glare issues at night only. It's the best money I ever spent. I definitely recommend it but don't go to a cheap place - you get what you pay for.
