Any moms out there have a Lasik Clinic to recommend and surgeon? The more research I do the more confused I get on who to go with.
Thank you for any insight/help!

Hi K.,
I had my Lasik done a little over a year ago. I had the worst vision. Without my glasses on I couldn't tell you if someone less than a foot in front of me was a man or a woman, just a blob and maybe what color their hair was. I was near sighted with an astigmatism. My eveys were -6.25 in both eyes. I wondered if I would even be able to have the Lasik. I am happy to say I wen to Lasik Plus and they did a very good job. I qualified for financing, and am enjoying not having to worry about no peripheral vision with glasses. I was not allowed to wear contacts any more due to scaring on my cornea, from wearing the contacts too much. The one I went to is in Leawood on Nall. Dr. Dean Ellis did the surgery it didn't take but about 10 minutes and I could instantly see without glasses, it is truly amazing. I highly recommend it! My eyes were still changing for the worse every year so I paid a little extra and got lifetime enhancements, so if my vision ever changes, I can go back and get the Lasik again free. They appear to be giving away $25 gift cards if you, can go for an evaluation before 09-28-2008. Here is the link I checked the only one in Kansas City is the one on Nall in Leawood. http://www.lasikplus.com/lasik-plus-landing/Gift_LandingP...
Good luck wherever you choose to go.
M.

My husband had his surgery performed by Dr. John Doane with Discover Vision Centers. He is one of the most experience Lasik Surgeons in Kansas City. He is very attentive and his staff is excellent. His office is at 117th and Roe Ave. across from Town Center. They use a central number to book appointments for all their offices. Their phone number is ###-###-####.

my husband went to Dr. Durrie. he is more expensive and may not be covered under your insurance, but he is worth every penny when it comes to your eyesight. also, you can ask to be a participant in a study and they will give you a discount on the surgery. also, he is one of the original doctors who came up with and started the lasik/laser eye surgery. good luck to you. i know my husband has enjoyed not having to wear contacts or eye glasses.

I had mine done by Dr. Daniel Durrie at Durrie Vision at 110th and Nall. My husband could not get Lasik because his corneas were too thin. Dr. Durrie did PRK on him. Both of us had a great experience and the outcome was phenomenal. They are more expensive than other places but he is very experienced. They also have several research studies that you could qualify for and then they discount the procedure. I too was nervous about it since you only have 1 pair of eyes. It was well worth the price.

Dr. Joseph Simone with Heart of America Eye Care performed my surgery, and I would recommend him. I was scared to death, and he was really good about telling me what was going on and keeping me calm. He has an office near SM Medical Center.

I would recommend Dr. Dan Durrie of the Durrie Clinic on Nall.
I did not have lasik surgery but have had two CK procedures there. I was very impressed with his expertise.
A little about me I am a 69 year old grandmother of a 16 month old girl and a 5 month old boy. The girl is in Shawnee and I take care of her 2 days a week. The boy is in Arlington VA and we are visiting him for the second time.

Dr. Milton Grin in Olathe (across from the hospital) did my lasik in Nov. 2000 and I would recommend him to anyone. He utilizes (at least he did back then) Discover vision. I am still loving my 20/20 vision!

Hi K.,
My mother in law has worked for Discover Vision (Dr. Doane) for many years. My husband had his surgery with Dr. Doane as have many of our friends and family. All have had nothing but good things to say about the facility and staff and all have had great results from the surgery.

Good luck to you with whomever you choose.

K.
