Hello Mommies!
I am a VERY stressed out 35 year old stay at home mom to 2 WONDERFUL kids. My son 9 year old son has Autism.
My question is... I am 2 weeks late on my period. I thought it was stress related. I bought an EPT test today and took it and it was positive. Does that mean I am pregnant or could it be positive because stress? I would LOVE another child however, I am worried about having another child with Autism. Not that I would not love that child with all my heart but I do see the struggles my son has with school and bullies.
I do not want to get too excited because I have had 3 miscarriages in the past ( last one 5 years ago). The only person I have told about the positive test is my husband.
He is very supportive. The stress I am talking about is, my husband hates his job, his boss is horrible to the people ( new boss) but we just solved that problem. He is starting a new job soon. And my son is taking the TASK writing at school this year and is having such a hard time. I know the school is great and will make all the nessisary occomidations but YEA, Im still a mommy and will worry!

What can I do next?

Home pregancy tests measure HCG levels--and you only get those if there's a baby on the way! Congratulaions!!

If the test shows positive, it's pretty certainly accurate. If the test were wrong, it would have been a false negative, not a false positive. Sounds like another one on the way! Give your OB a call so that they can monitor you since you have a history of multiple miscarriages. Congrats!

My doc says there are only false negatives, not false positives. Congrats!

Worries over miscarriage. Low progesterone is the #1 cause of miscarriage - found out the hard way myself. A simple progesterone cream that is USP progesterone, not progestins like in the pill, can at least alleviate the worry that progeserone is the cause. I have a lot of research I can point you to, also info on why most docs don't think in this direction inspite of research. PLEASE call me anytime to talk - it's my passion and goal, being a cancer survivor and mommy (2 yr. old and one due in August!).

More than likely the test didnt lie. I dont think it would gie a false positvie, only a false negative. And I also do not think that stress would cause a BFP(big fat positive)so it looks like you are pregnant. But still go see your OB/GYN to make certain. Congratulations if it is true...and I hope its a healthy pregnancy.

Sweetie...I hate to tell you that a positive is a positive. So CONGRATULATIONS!! However, I understand all too well the pain of miscarriage. So, get yourself to the OB and get some blood work done and an ultrasound to make sure all is well inside. How shocking it can be to be doing the baby thing again after 7 years!! I am 35 and just had my daughter, 9 months ago. Let us know how you are doing!!

Hi J.,

Sounds like you are pregnant! Congratulations! Home pregnancy tests are very accurate and you are more likely to get a false negative than a false positive.

Good luck!
