I just wanted to find out how long it took other moms to get pregnant after having the Mirena removed? Also curious how long it took you to get pregnant for your first pregnancy? We are thinking about starting to add one last additon to our family!

I had my Mirena out December 21st and a positive pregnancy ultrasound on January 18th. It didn't take me long.

Hi T.,

It depends on the person. Some takes longer than others. Enjoy what you are doing and don't think about it. You will become pregnant when your body is ready to receive another one.

Good luck, D.

used the iud after my twins were born. decided to add another to our clan and had iud removed in september. got pregnant end of december. from what i've read, you are ready to start conceiving 2-months after removal.

got pregnant with the twins after about 5-7 months of trying, then one day...poof. was on the pill prior to first pregnancy.

Our first took 4 months, our second after Mirena took about a year. Not sure if it was due to Mirena or possibly having PID... I was with Kiser, and don't think I received the best care, for instance they gave me a double dose of Antibiotics to see if that would work after 10 months of crazy periods after the Mirena, but didn't tell me why. My next ob said it was probably for PID...
Just FYI I am back with the Mirena beacue it is the most tollerable BC I have found, no crazyness for added hormones, plus almost no period!!!

Hi T.,
With my first baby we weren't really trying and it just happened. I then had mirena inserted for about a year and a half then had it removed and I didn't even really get a period because we were pregnant. I think it took a total of like 7 days! Good Luck!!

I have the mirena in now so I cant tell you from personal experience but my sister in law had hers removed and had her period that week then she was pregnant. And now my cousin had hers out in march and just found out this past friday that she is pregnant. The midwife told me that while they are required to warn you that the mirena may delay you getting pregnant she has not seen that happen since its a much lower dose of hormones then the pill. Good luck and Have fun trying!

Hi T.! I have never been on mirena but I was on BC pills for 10 years due to ovarian issues. I was off the pill for almost a month and got pregnant! So for me it happened fast! Wish you the same luck! Baby DUST to you!! Good Luck! -- Ang

I am set to have my Mirena removed September 9th and we want to have a baby! :) I'm excited and nervous at the same time. I have three children with my first husband (who wasn't so wonderful) and am now with a man who is absolutely amazing and has no children of his own. I'm excited to be TTC with someone whom I absolutely adore and who loves me and my children so very much. My youngest child will turn 5 in November so I'm excited at the thought of having another baby since it's been a while. I'm a loving mother who wants to conceive a healthy baby but I don't want to over-do it too early. I've read where some people had miscarriages after Mirena and i'm so scared of that. I had no periods while having my Mirena in for nearly 5 years now so I've been thinking about how that will effect pregnancy since it's our body's natural process to shed the lining of our uterus. Please give me and advice and I'd love to hear stories of people that have had successful pregnancies after Mirena! Wish us luck! <3 and pray for us... :)

I had the Mirena implanted when my babygirl was about 6 months old in 2005 and had it removed this past March. May 14th will be exactly 2 months to the day the implant was removed. My fiance and I have been actively trying for the past two weeks to get pregnant. I have already have 2 cycles since having the Mirena removed. My fiance is pretty confident that we are pregnant and I really hope I am. I'm going to start testing tomorrow. We really want a baby so bad. My first 2 babies were a surprise, this is the first time I'm actually TRIED to get pregnant. Let's keep our fingers crossed!

I had my IUD removed on August 6th - I thought I would have to wait awhile for my period to come back.... but it came on August 7th. I counted the days until I should ovulate - my husband and I did our "business" lol - I waited out the longest 10 days of my life.... took a HPT and it was positive. I found out I was preggers a mire 25 days after I had my IUD removed. I'm going on 7 weeks now - and looking forward to my first doctors visit!

same here, I had my Mirena removed on 9/12/10 and no cycle in August. September cycle for 2 days, I've had prego symptoms but 3 negative tests. My doctor informed me there isn't a wait time. My clock is ticking; I'll be 39 this year. What do you think?

I was on Mirena from April 2006 to June 2010. My husband and I are still trying to conceive. After all of the other answers of women getting pregnant almost 2 months after removal, I am beginning to think something may be keeping us from getting pregnant.
