Hi Ladies!
What is your favorite perfume? I am looking for a new perfume to purchase and would love some ideas. My most favorite is one called Rush by Gucci (the original version), but it's fun to try something new.

What can I do next?

I love Clinique Happy. It's citrusy and fresh. Wonderful fragrance for the summer. Also as someone said - Twilight woods from Bath and Body works - my husband got me the lotion for Xmas- he loves it. Enjoy. And yes, ignore the "snarky" comment.

Really, ignore Amanda R. Her comments just aren't warranted. Like one of the other mama's said, the whole world isn't going to rearrange itself just to suit the few people that have issues. It really bothers me when people expect the world to adapt to them instead of adapting to it. What makes them so darn important that they can tell the rest of us what to do? I'll stop here before I REALLY get going, or I'll end up blowing up your thread with political rhetoric! :)

Anyways, to answer your question, I've always liked Design (can't remember by who, but it's available in department stores). I've been wearing it for years and always get comments about how good I smell. I also now like the Japanese Cherry Blossom available at Bath and Body works. They've got an amazing hand sanitizer of the same scent too. Victoria's Secret has that Pear Glace body spray that smells great too. Those are my own three favorites. My sister always favored Gap Dream too, but I don't know if they make it any more or not.

I love Kenzo Amour

Something fun though... fragrance depts at higher end dept stores will make little glass tube samples for you for free. So you can take 5-10 of them home and try them out over time (sans headaches and dept store smells).

I like "Happy" by Clinique. It smells so bright and fresh. It always puts me in a happy mood.
My daughter bought me "Twilight Woods" at the Bath and Body Shoppe.
I'm a single woman, but men love it!
I was helping a friend prepare for a seminar and some of the men who arrived early were saying..."Okay...who is that? Who smells so good?"
It was me.
I went to another friends house one evening and her teenage son (who I've known since he was a baby) came out and said....."Where is she? I know she's here. I can smell her." And he gave me a huge hug.
It's hard to describe, but men like it.
Another friend got me some Sweet Pea from Bath and Body Works. It smells really clean.

It will be interesting to see your other responses.

Have fun!

The brand "Creed."
They make men's and women's fragrances.
Very nice, high end though, but you can get samples/testers from Neiman. Samples alone go for high bucks.

I wear the women's and the men's. Its unisex after all. I have the samples. But splurged to get my Hubby the men's cologne.

They make fragrances for celebrities. And even for Prince William etc., George Clooney, Angelina Jolie, Princess Diana etc.

But, it is quality..... nice high notes and low notes... well formulated. Good quality stuff.
-the history of Creed perfume, is interesting and The House Of Creed, was appointed to be the official supplier for the Royal English Court and Queen Victoria. The House of Creed was founded in 1760. And in 1854 the House of Creed was moved to Paris, where it still is.

Also: perfume by "Jo Malone." Also from Neiman. VERY nice natural fragrances. Great smelling.

Both can be seen on the Neiman website.

good luck,
Susan

I am a perfume addict! My current favorite is lavanila coconut vanilla. My husband's favorite is d&g light blue. I also like anything by Michael lots, Marc Jacobs, lamb/harajuku girls, Ralph Lauren (romance!), and the be delicious scents. And I always like victoria's secret perfumes too. Sephora has a box of sample vials that comes with a certificate good for a full size bottle once you try the samples and find one you like. Have fun!

Hi E..
Wow! This seems to be a loaded topic! I am pretty careful about what perfume I wear because some scents seem to kick in migraines for me, but I really do love some scents and for certain people they are almost trademarks! My aunt recently passed away after a tough battle with ovarian cancer. Her fragrance was Este Lauder's Beautiful, and it has the perfect name! I loved the light lingering scent when she would give a hug.
I like Philosophy Amazing Grace and Pure Grace, and my daughter took my Baby Grace because she liked it so much! It really depends what kind of scent you like. I ordered the three together as a set to see what I would like, and I actually liked all of them but found that the Baby Grace was a little strong for me (again with the migraines!). Pure Grace is avery clean scent, and Amazing Grace is a very feminine soft fragrance without being too flowery or anything.
Good luck with whatever you choose.
Christi :)

I really like Vanilla Fields, not too pricey, smells super sweet, does not have a lot of staying power...I tend to go really light with fragrance, it bothers my niece, sometimes I will skip a fragrance all together and just use scented body lotion. The designer fragrance I would wear for special occassions was Dune by Christian Dior...it smells sexy!

I wish that people would stop wearing perfume altogether. I know this doesn't specifically help you and I don't mean to be snarky, but you have no idea how perfume can impact some people. It bothers me to the point that I have to use my rescue inhaler if I am around someone with even a strong fabric-softener in their clothing, and it bothers my young daughters and causes behavioral issues with them. It really is inconsiderate, in my opinion, to wear scents in public. I have had to leave restaurants, stores, etc. because of perfumes :(

You can feel free to ignore me, and I totally get that. I used to love to wear perfume myself in high school, but life has put difficulties in my path that were unforeseen and I don't want the world to revolve around me, I just want people to be aware that sometimes "harmless" things are really very harmful. I got asthma after a dr prescribed an antibiotic I was severely allergic to and it made me totally sensitive to smells and chemicals. I can't change that, but it breaks my heart that people would be intentionally inconsiderate if they knew. Put yourself in my shoes for just a moment. My daughter has an autoimmune disease, so standing behind you for 5 minutes while shopping, etc can cause an exacerbation in her behavior, and even cause her to have a fever, then causing her to miss school for a week or more- all because of, yes, some simple perfume.

Aside from that, since you "don't want to get going" on it- you're putting chemicals on yourself that can cause these VERY things to happen to YOU. Karma is real. (This is less directed at the original poster and more directed at those who feel the need to comment on my comment, which I believe is more than inappropriate since this is NOT a forum for that.)

It's so easy to attack, isn't it? And it saddens me, because I have been a part of Mamasource since it's very beginning and have given advice and received advice on many things- things that are sometimes "trivial" and things that are sometimes monumental. Sometimes someone will give an answer that will cause you to stop, think, and open new eyes to a thing. I only strive to enlighten someone who may not know how harmful such a simple thing can be. Again, I'm not trying to offend and I apologize if I have. I just think that in the grand scheme of things (health included) that perfume is low on the list :(

I like Happy by Clinique.

I just want to chime in and say that I don't think Amanda's reply was as harsh as some of the comments made me think it was (I read newer comments that referenced hers before I read hers). I think she was informing us that something seemingly harmless for many of us can be harmful to others. I don't blame her for wishing that people would stop wearing perfume since it seems to cause very unpleasant issues for her and her family. I wished people would stop sending their sick children to school where my child, who was undergoing cancer treatments, would come into contact with them. Yes, I wished it. And while I didn't expect people's behaviors to change because of my personal situation that didn't stop me from asking the school to send out reminders during cold and flu season about keeping kids at home. Maybe I'd get lucky and the the families of my son's classmates would take the message to heart. Should the entire world bow down to those of us who have special circumstances? Maybe not. But a little compassion isn't too much to ask for.

Whatever you try, I beg you to be aware that some of us out here have sensitivities to perfumes/colognes. I developed this problem over 20 years ago, and my freedom to be in public places is severely limited by women (and men) who think more scent is better. I have had to leave restaurants, movies, church services, and all sorts of gatherings.

Ladies, when you use scent, please keep it personal, just for you and those who come close to you. If you can be smelled from more than 2 feet, you are quite possibly making as many as 1 out of 10 strangers ill.

And I'm not speaking of itchy eyes or sneezing, I mean disabling headaches, dizziness, nausea, confusion and mood changes, vision problems, breathing and sleep disturbances. I spoke to one young saleswoman working in a clothing shop who actually fainted when a highly-perfumed customer would walk in. I doubt that she was able to keep that job for long.

I am a surprise lady and we have an after body spray called glisten that has a really nice pear blossom smell. I only mention this because I am not a very big perfume person and will rarely wear it, but this spray has a very light scent and it will also rehydrate your skin and bring it back to it's soft feeling. Another plus....it's a great mosquito repellant!
