What is reasonable pricing for a babysitter? The young lady that I will be interviewing has said that she doesn't have a set rate and that she'd leave it up to me. What is a reasonable hourly rate for a 5 year old boy and a 15 month old girl?
Thanks,
A.

We pay $8/hr for a 15-year-old girl from down the street, $10/hr for a responsible adult. Before I was married, I made $12/hr for taking care of 3 kids, including driving them to sports, lessons, etc. in my own car.

I had the EXACT same question...my babysitter charges $8/hr. I dont pay her less than 20 even if its just a 2 hour time though. I want to make it worth her trip over. I have a 26mth old and a 14 mth old.....

We guarantee $40 for the night no matter how long we are gone and even if we cancel for some reason. If we are gone longer than 3 hours (which is 99% of the time) I start adding $10 for every extra hour.

My weekend sitter could count on a minimum of $60 from me and if we were out past 1 or so, I added more. I have paid as much as $100 for 1 night. We go out at least once a weekend and have always had date night as a priority in our 20 yr marriage.

Our daughter just turned 14 but we still call on our favorite high school senior when our schedules work because she is such a good role model and example for my daughter. She also plays the piano for my daughter when my daughter has violin solos and competitions.

My daughter babysits some for the neighbors and she has always been given $10 an hour. One family has 3 girls ages 3, 4, and 6 and the other family has twin girls 4.

Hope that helps!

$7-8 per child, with an extra $2-3 for additional children. We have a guaranteed minimum depending on when we need the sitter.

I pay $8 an hour for the 16 year old and an adult I pay $10 for 1 child and $11 for 2 children. Those are the going rates @ a Temporary agency that I use - I like them alot.
