This would be a fabulous opportunity to teach your daughter that puppies are living creatures, not pretty playthings...

Eta: I was not rude or nasty, unlike you. I'm sure your little girl DOES love puppies - but she would prob understand that it's stressful and dangerous for her, her friends, and the puppies, if it were explained at an age appropriate level. I work as a volunteer every day in a breed specific animal rescue and I am passionate about educating all age groups about the proper care of dogs and puppies - this is a recipe for disaster and sends a message that puppies are a "prop"... If your little girl liked babies, would you contact a hospital about renting their newborns out? It equates to nearly the same ridiculous level to me... I'm sorry you don't like my opinion, but I'm clearly not alone...

While I would never do it, I'm not seeing how this is any different then a petting zoo, or renting a pony for a kids party.

Having said that, it would be to much stress on puppies, even puppies an the older side.

Thanks for editing just as I submit. I thought I was losing my mind, but secondly all people have to do is read the other answers and they will know you changed it.

When will people grow up and accept not everyone is going to give the exact answer they want?

I don't know of any place that you can "rent" a living animal. The liability itself would be astronomical in the event that one of the kids got bit. Additionally, it just seems that wouldn't be the right message to send to kids anyway....

Maybe an animal shelter could bring by some puppies for adoption and you could talk about how important it is to give money and supplies to the organziation. if she collected pet food in leiu of gifts maybe they would do that likle they do for their adpotion events out at malls.

if you phrase it as a educational philanthropic thing you will get less nasty replies.

Humane Society, ASPCA, and shelters hold birthday parties. They teach you about the dogs, how to care for them, etc.

Renting puppies crosses an ethical line, that I am surprised you are okay with.

This is a new one on me! I didn't even know this kind of thing existed but seeing your question prompted me to do an internet search and sure enough, there are places that will accommodate such a thing.

In my opinion, this is too much stress on puppies and I would never do it but that's just me.

Although there don't seem to be many options (at least in my area - thank heavens!), if you do an internet search you might find someone near you that is stupid enough to do this!

Good luck!!
