I have been having skin problems for years im so young and it makes me very self consious that my arms face and back break out constantly. I have tried every product you can think of even TV products nothing seems to work. It makes me feel very bad about my self and i was wondering if anyone has any other pieces of advice to help clear my skin.

Hi M.- I call on a lot of the derms in Mesa/Chandler and I have a few recommendations for you based on where you are located. Alta Derm is on 63rd between Main and Broadway. They accept a variety of insurance plans and seem to be fairly up to date on all products and procedures. Dr. Sawyer and Dr. Goff and both great choices there, http://www.altaderm.com ###-###-####. Dr. Bruce Sloten and Dr. Sam Smith are right on Broadway and 63rd and are also both excellent choices and accept many insurance plans. I saw someone had mentioned Ruth Ireland, who works for AZ Skin and Cancer Center- their office is wonderful and I see Michelle Campbell there. Joan Altman, another PA in the office does an Acne Clinic on Saturdays so if you need a Saturday appt. you can also go see her then- their number is ###-###-####. Personally I never recommend Pro-Activ as they spend so much money on advertisement and it brings the price of the product sooo high. Another con is that it uses a water base and the water cannot fully dissolve the benzoyl peroxide crystals completely, and leaves bp residue on your face causing dryness, irritation and will bleach out your collars and towels. It depends on what kind of break-outs you are having but the derm will determine whether to use something to regulate the shedding of your skin cells, or the killing of the bacteria, or a combination of several different things. Just remember every new facial regiment will take at least 2 weeks to settle in and start being effecient, so just be patient and your face will be all cleared up in no time!!!

Hi, I'm sorry to hear about your breakouts. I totally understand because I used to have the same problem. I wouldn't go out of the house, it's so embarrassing. Have you tried ProActive? That worked for me. I've used it for about 8 years now. If I ever slack off or try different products, the acne comes back. The biggest problem is it is expensive, but I've gotten clever about how to make it last. The company brochure said it couldn't help with acne cysts (which I get) but I swear it does. I sound like an infomercial! All I can say is that it worked for me. Good luck, I feel for you.

As far as Dr.s I don't have any advice there, I've never found a good one for any problem!

Take Care,
Jenn K

Hi M.,

I had a problem with acne a few years ago and went to see a derm and they put me on a medication called Acutane. It is a very powerful drug and you have to go for blood test and all, but it works. If you are breast feeding or plan on getting pregnant any time soon, it would not be a good choice.
I forgot the name of the derm I went to but any doctor would know about it.

Hi M.-
I live in Gilber tand love my dermo, Dr. Mary Connolly in the group called English Demontologists. They are on Lindsay and Pecos in the new doctors plaza. As far as your skin, have you ever tried the Clear Advantage line from Arbonne? I haven't tried but several friends have and rave about the great results to get rid of acne and scars. Let me know if you wouldlike to try it out. As far as a regular doctor for you, I have recently found Dr. Cynthia Jordan to be the best. She is in a group called Gilbert Primary Care on Val Vista and Baseline. Email me back if there is anything else you need. ____@____.com
