So I was just curious as to when an infant should start rolling over, and laughing. My baby is almost two months, and so far she smiles at me but I'm just afraid she should be doing more then just that.

What can I do next?

When they are ready... ((((Hugs))) Don't rush it! Enjoy all the time you have with her! Pretty soon, you won't be able to keep up with her.

Honestly, three months old is when they really start becoming more "interactive" with their parents. Cooing and Smiling... it is the BEST age.. I really miss that!

She is doing great just enjoy her at this age and sit and hold her and let her give you that toothless smile. My son was about 4-5months old when he turned from back to tummy and tummy to back. Just put her on the floor on her tummy everyday about 5-10 minutes a day, put some toys in front of her and a little off to the side just a little out of reach, it will give her the incentive to reach for it and help her turn from tummy to back. Make it an everyday activity mostly when she wakes from her naps.

Enjoy

Hope that helps

Hi S.,

Dont worry, your baby girl is doing just fine. My son didnt roll over until about 7 months, mostly due to being too fat to do so... huge thighs. :)

All babies are different, some roll as early as three months. Your baby will develope before you know it... enjoy the moments of being able to put her down and come back five minutes later to her in the same place.

She should be smiling at you now. As for rolling over they really don't do that until they are anywhere from 4 months to 6 months. by the sounds of it she is progressing fine.

Hi S., I think your baby girl is right on track. :) My daughter rolled over once at 6 weeks and it shocked her and me! lol. Then I waited for her to do it again and she didn't until she was 5 months! Just keep doing what you are doing and one day she will surprise you with a little giggle! Aren't babies fun? ~:)

I personally think the first 6 months are more relaxing and boring (except when you first come from the hospital and have to breast feed a crying baby every 2 hours). After 6 months, things start picking up, the child is more fun, yet there's a lot more work and involvement.

I don't think my son started rolling over until 3/4 months (it's hard to remember now, but it was monumental!). It takes a while, too, because first they learn to roll onto their side. They like playing on their side and stay in that position for awhile. Then they pump and kick their legs to get back in their original position or roll over another 90 degrees.

So don't worry, your daughter is still with the average if she's not rolling over at 2 months! After rolling over comes the propping up on pillows in a sitting position stage.

If you're interested in what stages your child should be at each month, try the book "What to Expect the First Four Years." It breaks down which point your child should be at each month for the first year. You can also apply to some free e-mails from Enfamil.com. I don't know how I got on their list, but they sent me free formula samples, coupons, and monthly newsletters.

My baby is 5mo and he's so much fun now! He laughs and plays and rolls all over the place.

If you are concerned with your baby's development, you should talk to your pediatrician. They can recommend Early Intervention if necessary.

I was at one point worried about my son, when it came to certian developments. But i have found that the less i pushed and the more i relaxed the more egar he was to learn. It sounds to me she is on track. At 2 months she is still getting use to the world around her, so right now she is just enjoying being a baby.
most babies don't start to roll over til about 5-6 months, my son was around the 4.5 month range or so. My daughter was a bit earlier but again all babies are differnt. When it comes to laughing it can depend my son didn't start laughing til almost three months of age, my daughter was a little over a month. But both my kids are healthy and on track now. Each baby developes differntly, and sometimes out of order of things.
Oh also, remember that sometimes babies will concentrate on a certian task and seem to "forget" their pervious acomplishments. But in all they haven't.
Hang in there i think she is fine!

My boys rolled at 4, 8 and 5 months but they are all different and have different priorities.

The oldest on just about gave me a heart attack cause he rolled off the bed.

The middle boy was a lap baby, why should he roll when daddy will pick him up and take him when he wants to go.

The youngest wanted to keep up with big brother.

hi S., i agree with the first two responses if she smiling she on the right track. as for rolling over every baby is different. my 2nd son didnt do much until he was close to 6 months old, he was a pretty lazy baby. i wouldnt be to eager for her to move because once they become mobile its all over with. enjoy it why you can. i have 4 children and i wish at sometimes i could find where the pause button is. lol good luck W.

S., I have a 3 mos old baby that doesn't roll over or laugh. Her older brother didn't roll til he was 6 mos old and laughed out loud at 7 weeks old. They're all different and they all develop at their own pace. I'm not sure where you live, but you might look into Parents as Teachers and see if they have a program in your city. A Parent Educator will come to your home and evaluate your child - it can really set a mom's mind to rest.

Enjoy her!!
