Could I Be Pregnant? - Houston, TX

Hey fellow Moms,
Ok, I need some input here. I have been on a combination bcp since my baby stopped nursing in August. I nursed him for one year and did not have a cycle due to breastfeeding. So I started on the combo pill in mid-August and just finshed my 2nd cycle of it. The first month after I stopped nursing I spotted, the second, on the pill I started exactly when my pills stopped for the month and stopped when I got back on them, so my cycle was 7 days, which I was not expecting! Anyway, I did miss a pill this month on the 17th day of my cycle. So, I am on my placebo days and haven't started my cycle yet. Is it possible that I am prego? I took a test last week because I was just feeling different but it was negative, and if I am preggers it was really early. I also had a dream last week that I was pregnant. So what do some of you moms think? Am I just going through my cycle getting regulated again or could it be baby #2?? I am trying to be cool, but I will be soooooooooo excited if I am pregnant!! Thanks :)

OK, enough with the lectures, just get yourself to the doctor or your local free clinic and have a pregnancy blood test. They are the fastest and earliest predictors of pregnancy. As you have been told, stay away from the pill till you are sure. Congratulations if you are pregnant, every child is a blessing.

If you are sooooo excited about possibly being pregnant, WHY would you be taking birth control pills?
Your cycle would regulate on it's own without messing up your system w/bcp (progestins).

Lol it sounds like you could be, but there's only one way to know! If you took your last test two weeks ago, you should be able to get an answer by now right? Take another test, and GL!

J.,

It sounds like you want to have baby #2. Why not talk to your hubby and quit taking B/C pills altogether even if it turns out you're not pregnant?

Read the little plamplit that comes with it and see how long it takes to actually start working. I cannot remember if it takes one month or three. Wait a couple of weeks and take the test again. Also call you doc and see if you need to stop taking those pills.

Please do not take any more pills till you find out for sure that you are not pregnant. My sister was taking them when she was pregnant and lost the baby at 12 weeks. that was heartbreaking for her and her dr said it was likely due to taking the pill. She was also taking it when pregnant with #2 but stopped right away (she was regularly taking preg tests.)

If you think you are pregnant, do not start the full strength birth control pills when you're through with your current round of placebo's.

You'll need to stop the bcps because the hormones are really dangerous to a fetus; take a preggers test once you feel it will be more timely/accurate and then restart your bcp after you get your next period (not mid-month)... (that is, assuming you're not preggers now... !)
