Yes and they are not good for you. Don't do it. Drink a lot of water to help with the bloating and get some good exercise in at least 20 minutes 3 or more times a week.

Hi L.,
I'm on the same page as Crystal C. I saw Dr. Oz on Oprah and he said cleansing is ineffective. I also saw a special on tv about cleansing. It was proven ineffective and I thought it looked dangerous!. I think the whole thing is a scam. Drink water; eat fiber. You will be fine! Good Luck!

No, no, no, no!!! There have been a few posts on them recently, go back and review them. Nobody needs a 'cleansing'...what we need is a high fiber diet...like 30grams/day! They are dangerous and misleading...all you are doing is bulking up on fiber pills and water, which makes you think you are eliminating lots of stuff...it's a scam!

They are a waste of money.

If you are feeling bloated drink MORE water.

It will help.

No one needs these cleansing systems... just a normal bowel movement every day or so.. or whatever is normal for you.

L.,

I have never tried the cleaning systems, but instead eat lots of fiber in my day.

My husband and I make our breakfasts the night before and have this recipe:

1/3 cup rolled oats oatmeal (uncooked)
1/3 cup milk (soy, rice, almond, dairy)
small handful of raisins (for sweetness)
small handful of walnuts
small handful of pine nuts
1 Tbsp. fax seed oil

This recipe cleaned me out the first two weeks. But now I am regular and don't get crampy or feel bloated at all. When I don't eat this breakfast I feel slow and lethargic.

I hope this helps.

Don't forget to eat lots of vegetables and fruits at lunch and dinner as well.

Good luck!

I know of a 7-day digestive, liver and colon cleanse that will cleanse and detox you in order to optimize your digestive tract health by providing select nutrients and botanicals that cleanse and mildly purge the body of accumulated and potential toxins. Go to my web portal www.marketamerica.com/thevoiceoftruth and seek "NutriClean 7-Day Cleansing System" for complete details. Many people swear that they do this 4 times a year (when the seasons change) and love it. I can't because I do not have a gall bladder and there are warnings against it. Make sure that your doctor is good with this first!

Be well!

i was curious about this also, until one day i was watching oprah and dr. oz was on and an audience member asked him about it. he said it's not good for your body, that your body, when given proper nutrition and exercise, is designed to 'cleanse' itself. i've also heard that doing this type of thing can mess up your digestive system and electrolytes and things like that. i personally haven't given it a second thought after watching what dr. oz had to say about it. if i remember correctly he gave some good tips on what you should be feeding your body to get things 'flowing' as they should. he also has some books. i haven't read them yet but plan to, since i have a lot of digestive problems and bloating, too.
good luck!

Colons clean themselves. If colons need cleaning, so do lungs, veins and uteruses. As if.

If you think you're eating poorly enough all the time to be ending up with problematic bowels, eat more fibre, eat less junk and drink more plain water. From now until forever. Colon cleanses are sold, essentially, as 'clean up your diet for a week or a month and then go back to your regular lifestyle' quick fixes with no lasting value or virtue. Some of them are dangerous, but mostly they're just expensive ways to ensure that for a period of time you're eating more fibre, staying away from a bunch of foods no one needs to eat in the first place, and drinking enough water.

Yes, I've done it a couple of times. It simply helps cleanse your digestive system. You typically have 2-3 bowel movements a day instead of the usual one. There's no discomfort hat I can recall. I don't know if it will help with bloating and gas, but I suppose it can't hurt. Some nutritionists or organic/natural health food proponents say you should do a bowel cleanse at least once every six months.

Hi L.,

There are so many programs to choose from and I understand your concerns. A good detox and cleanse program helps with many issues. Why? by cleaning out your colon helps with your immune system (bad bacteria resides in the colon) and helps with acid reflux, Candida (overgrowth of yeast in the colon).

I have used and recommend to several a great detox and cleanse program. If you are interested, contact me at ____@____.com

I suggest starting slowly, most people are really toxic. Get a spa foods sort of cook book from the library. Go vegetarian for 2 weeks, and cut any dairy in 1/2, eat lots and lots of greens, drink water, maybe try detox tea yogi brand is nice. Look in the pantry, google any ingredient you don't know as fresh food. Is it really something good? Then cut out all dairy, still feel bloated, cut out wheat. That's how I found out I'm not great with wheat. All over nothing major, till I realized it caused gas,and the painful inflammation in my wrists. I feel so much better now. But you can also feel crazy during detox, and some of that is food addictions.
Good luck, A. H

Hi L.,
I understand your feelings. It is scary if you haven't done a cleanse before. I would suggest a juice cleans or a foods cleanse before using a supplement. You can download a pdf file online at www.savingdinner.com called the Dinner Diva Detox Menu, less than $4. I am going to try that one myself. This site also has great ways to help you with your regular family meal planning, including shopping lists! I hope these will help you in your search : )

Try the Arise and Shine brand for herbal colon cleansing. Great products, I've tried them and also many of my family members. www.ariseandshine.com

If you are talking about colonics, colon hydrotherapy, these are great too. These irrigate the colon with water, a little more than an enema does. Don't be afraid, they are wonderful and very necessary for good health. Even makes your skin look better!!! Find a colon hydrotherapist to help you with this one, needs a special machine to do this.

Good Luck.

Hi L.,
Yes I have had used an internal colon cleaning system. There is nothing to be frightened of, as a matter of fact, you should do this twice a year! Not only does it clean out your colon, it can help to cleanse other interanl organs! You will feel better after the cleanse. I must worn you that you will feel a sudden urge to use the bathroom, this you will have under control after the first few days. After taking the pills/liquids, it usually takes between 20 minutes to a few hours to kick in...so you will beable to monitor when you will need to go so you can plan for the day!
I hope this helps! I truly trust the health store I go to in Novi called Healthy Jones. Linda and Bob are the owners and wonderful people. They are incredibly educated, I trust them very much! Just let them know what it is you want to do and they will help guide you into the right product.

I just started using Super Cleanse, you get it at GNC. A neighbor gave a few pills to me and I'm on my 5th day of using them. This is my first time cleansing and my neighbor says it helps her feel better, gives her more energy, so I tried it and she told me to use Vitamin D3 which helps to lose weight. So far, I've been "cleansing" so to speak, but forgive me for sounding gross, but I've experienced some side effects like itchyness in the colon area. Also, I've been taking 2000 mg of Vitamin D3 which along with the cleansing is suppose to help you lose weight. In 5 days, I've lost 2 pounds. Super Cleanse is natural, herbal. I can't say that I would recommend it to you because I haven't been on it long enough, but I've also heard that bran cereal does the same thing. Always check with your doctor before starting something if you are not sure.

L.,
It depends on what method you choose. "Colon cleanse" can mean, quite simply, an enema.
Or there are herbal colon cleanses. I wouldn't advise getting one at, like CVS or Rite Aid. Go to a health food store like Better Health or Whole Foods.

But Fox 2 news just a few nights ago did a feature on 'colon cleansing' and all it was was an enema. You can achieve it without the discomfort of that.

Hi L., there is nothing to be afraid about, go to drnatura.com that is the one I am on now I do this once a year, or every two years, I did get the toxinout also but you don't have too, anyway important to have lots of bottles of water, you need to drink at least 5 of them to 6 a day, it will help with the eliminating process, and the tea you drink at night is a very nice flavor I let my brew for 6min, but everyone is different, you will fee some discomfort at first till you adjust the tea to your body, you cannot loose track of the time of the tea, I found longer the 6min gives me stomach pain, but it doesn't last long, and 6min is perfect for me. I believe in total health all natural before any other, and I'm very healthy, I also take drlark.com vitamins and vitalizer, and hormone balance. drnatura is the best and only one on the market that truly works in my opinion. Blessings
