I am looking at what to expect to pay for daycare for a infant? Anyone have a range? it would be full time M-F 9-6. Is it more expensive for an infant as opposed to a toddler? I have no idea... I am not due until July, but being a single parent I am preparing for it now expense wise. I was told to be very scared by how much it will cost....

also when is the soonest you can find out the sex?

What can I do next?

I would say you would be looking at about 30-40 dollars a day depending on what community you live in and where you choose to take your child.. My son is four and I currently pay 590 a month, That is 25 a day two days a week (family member) and 20 the other three days (close friend) and 150 to his preschool (private school).. It is better if you can find someone you know and trust for many reasons but it also can make it a little more affordable especially being a single mom..

My son was 18 months and I was paying $185 at a daycare center a week. I switched to an at home center after a awhile and was paying $135 a week.

I have since quit my job and opened up my own daycare and I charge $135 - $150 a week, which includes all food and wipes.

Good luck with your pregnancy! Hope all is well!

Hi N.,

It depends what area you're looking in and if its a public daycare or an at home daycare. My kids have gone to both and I have an infant and a toddler. They currently go to an at home daycare and I pay 150/week for my toddler and 160/week for my infant. Those are really low prices and you'll usually only get that cheap if its an at home setting. The cheapest I found infant care in a public setting was $190/week and it can go up to $240ish/week. The cost does go down for toddlers. They always charge more for infants.

Also, most people find out the sex of the baby at 18-20 weeks.

Good luck!

It depends if you are looking at a childcare center or an in home daycare. My child goes to an in home daycare and it is much cheaper than a childcare center. Now I can't say that for every in home but they are worth checking out.

Hi N.,

The place where I take my daughter was $252/week, now that she is a todler we spend $212/week. I think the averarge is anywhere from $250-$200. It does change as your child gets older.

Check with your place of employment. They may offer dependent care. With this it is optional, but the government allows parents to receive $5,000 pre taxed dollars for daycare. It helps me out a lot.

The earliest you can find out a baby's sex is 20 weeks. This is what I was told by my doctor.

Hope this helps,

J.
