Child Support W/ Asperger's

My husband recently drained our bank accounts and changed the locks on our house. I have filed for divorce based of many other things as well. Our divorce hearing is July 11.
We have an Asperger's child. I am a SAHM & haven't worked for 6-years (was a Realtor before and couldn't stand it). My child support will be $700/mo.
Are there any government programs out there for single moms who have special needs children? My husband will pay for healthcare (which is a lot of money right there) but I need financial assistance.
I'm so scared about finding a job to support my boys and daycare. I've stayed 'poor' in order to stay at home with my boys (my husband makes little money) & this is the exact opposite of what I've wanted. But, I'd rather them not grow up in an abusive home & I'm doing the best for them that I can.
Any advice on financial matters, support, etc. would be GREATLY appreciated.

What can I do next?

The best thing I can suggest is to go to the office and ask for assistance. You can get money for food, and a place to stay. When we had our first kiddo my nw husband was contracting and I was going to college....so no insurance. If you decide to go back to school, have a child with special needs, or meet a income requirment you can get some help.

Also texas work force is another government program that tries to help place you into a job and even help get you some daycare money.
I think this is voutures for places that except that program.

My youngest son has been diagnosed with autism or rather being on the hifh functioning part of the spectrum and my eldest boy does odd behavior, he will be tested this august.

I am sorry, your husband has done such a thing to you...even still with a child who has special needs. My nerologist explains that a lot of families end up torn apart, because of stress, strain and its not right but it happens.

God Bless and feel free to email

My advice would go apply for foodstamps and Medicaid. Yes medicaid too just in case you have to pay for meds and co-pays. Medicaid will pay for this. I had insurance with my mother and Medicaid when was pregnant. Try going to the Goodwills they a place to seach for work.
I think if I was in your shoes I would go back to school and apply for financial aid. Some colleges have a daycare there at school for a student fees.
Try doing something on the side like if you really want to stay home watch a few more kids. Try house cleaning. Mary-Kay or Avon. I know you say you where a Realtor and hated it but maybe you can try to finding in that area.
Also I don't know how long you two have been married but if it was I think for a certain amount of time maybe you will get Alimony. When he drained your bank account you two where married so ask the judge for that money back. Half and Half.
I feel for you. I don't know what I would do in your situation. I too am a SAHM. But I do know if anything would to happen in my marriage my mother's door is always open or any family memeber.
That's an idea do you have anyone like that?
Good Luck
Hope things go your way...

I don't know where exactly to go, but the public school district should have a good list of where to go. There are groups like ABC (any baby can) and they might be able to direct you to some assistance. Wish I knew more...I have a special needs kiddo myself & am still learning. You might want to try these & hopefully they will be able to help you :o)
My prayers are with you!

C., the advice everyone else is giving is right on the money. We just retired from the AF and took a 50% pay cut. We have been looking for ways to make ends meet and are still toughing it out. Definately check into the DHS and TWC as they can help get you a job, assistance with childcare, food stamps, TANF and so on. Additionally, you might want to look into SSI for your 5yo. That is an additional source of income that you can use for daycare or just day-to-day living expenses. My one recommendation before you do that is to have a free initial consultation with a Social Security lawyer to ensure that all the paperwork and such is in pristine condition to help ensure the quickest processing. If you are interested, I can put you in touch with mine. She only gets paid if you get backpay from Social Security. Send me a note at ____@____.com. I truly hope things get better and if you just want to talk, let me know.
