Birthday Party Ideas for My Soon to Be 2 Year Old

My son turns two on Wednesday...we are having his party this Sunday. We are doing his favorite...Mickey Mouse theme. I bought a mickey mouse shaped cookie cutter online and I am going to make sugar cookies the day before and have the kids decorate and then I purchased a mickey mouse pinata (we have some older kids) and we are going to do that as well. Serving sandwiches, salsa, dips, chips, veggie bars and mac salad. Of course cake! Good Luck! OUrs is at home as well.

My son turned 2 in May and since it wasn't yet too hot, we had more of a backyard party. We bought one of those inflatable pools with an inflatable whale slide that sprays water out of the blowhole. The kids had an absolute blast and the adults had fun watching them splash around. We ate pizza for lunch, cut the cake, and then we had a pinata which I filled with a sparse amount of candy, toy sunglasses, and pool squirters shaped like turtles and fish. My advice is to keep it simple. At 2 years old, it doesn't take much keep them entertained. =)

When my son was little, we set up an "obstacle course" in the backyard to burn off energy. For tunnels, we used boxes and a sheet over a clothesline and one over a card table. We laid a board across two bricks to run across (low to the ground). There was a broom across two chairs that they had to go under, etc. We would say, "On your marks, get set, go!" and they would go through over and over again.

the best part I did was innexpensive. I found it in a Raising Arizona Birthday Party Idea book. Get large cardboard boxes, large paint brushes, cheep plastic plates and alot of paint. Put dish soap in the paint to allow for washing. Tell kids to wear paint clothing. send them in the back each with a box open at one end. Pre cut windows and such. Have a couple xtra large (refrigerator) for parents to participate. Each child can take their box home (fold and send-paint will be dry) I served cake and everyone moved boxes together and had a open house. Kids and parents had great time.
