I'm 34 weeks pregnant and I want to get a bikini wax for the summer. Is it too late in the pregnancy to have this done and will it hurt? Thanks for the advice!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I went through with it! It wasn't that bad. It hurt for a few seconds, but it was just a slight sting. Nothing like the pain of labor! I'm planning on going back the week before my due date. Now I will feel more confident in my bathing suit (no, not a bikini...they just call it a bikini wax). Thanks, Terry, for helping me feel more comfortable during an uncomfortable time!

You can definitely do it but know it's going to be super painful. I waxed just b/f giving birth at 38 weeks because I wanted to be clean for my c-section. =)

You might also bleed a little bit just because you have more bloodflow in general (I did) and my skin was a little more sensitive, but again, take some tylenol and you'll probably be just fine.

Why????????? Don't know! H*#+ yes, it's going to hurt (hot wax on sensitive skin, hair pulled out by the folicles, and you even ask about it hurting??!!!!).

Don't do it! For whatever reason you are more sensitive while pregnant and it hurts 10 times more. I made that mistake with my first :)

I did it for my first pregnancy, LOVED it, and I'm planning on doing it again- about a week before my due date.
There's nothing wrong with getting your "down there" region all pretty for the new arrival- summer OR the baby! :)

I had a brazillian wax 2 weeks before a schedule c-section. It was fine. Hurt just as much as it usually did 8-)

I always have waxed every 5-6 weeks throughout both of my pregnancies but ESPECIALLY for delivery. I break out from shaving, so I didn't want the hospital to feel the need to shave me.
I don't remember it hurting any worse during pregnancy. :)

i had a bikini wax about a week before my due date. it wasn't any more painful than getting it done before i got pregnant. so, no, i don't think it's too late in your pregnancy. but yes, it's gonna hurt. i sure hope you've had one before and know what it feels like...because that kind of pain, experienced for the first time at 34 weeks pregnant, just might send you into labor!

It always hurts. It's waxing. Will it hurt MORE than usual? Depends. For one thing, you're bendier... so that will be easier. But will your skin be more sensitive because of the hormones? Possibly. I try and avoid waxing just after my period, but prior to I'm peachy. My sis is the opposite. She's really sensitive before but not right after. So you might be more sensitive, or you might be less, or it may be just the same. Our pain tolerance as women tends to be set pretty high to begin with, however.

There's no reason NOT to get waxed while preggers. At least, not a health reason. You might get ingrown hairs pregnant or not... the same way you can get them from shaving. At least you don't cut yourself waxing ;)

I have to stop waxing my eyebrows when I am pregnant. My skin gets so sensitive I break out in hives. If you haven't had a reaction like that, I'd see no reason to not get a bikini wax.

My OB said not to do it because you are more sensitive down there while pregnant.

Yes, get a bikini wax...but it may hurt more. It's summer and shaving just doesn't get the job done.

I have never been waxed - but I would imagine it would hurt. But if you want to get a wax - by all means why not? I'd say if you are up for it - go for it!!! It will make you feel better about yourself in the end. Good luck!!!

Too late why? Yes it hurts, take some Tylenol beforehand, its not so bad though. To avoid breakouts, make sure you exfoliate before you get it done and when you get home clean the area with a cool towel. The stuff they put to soothe after they wax is what causes you to break out. The pores are open and the soothing cream/get etc just fills it and makes little while pimple. I opt not to have anything put on it other then a cold towel.

I've waxed for years, before and after pregnancy. During pregnancy, neither I nor the local salons could satisfactorily strip the hair off cleanly, and too much tweezing was required. I kept trying, and as my pregnancy progressed, the hairs seemed thicker and more determined to hold on.

So some time in my second trimester, I gave up looking sleek (I didn't feel sleek anyway, as my belly expanded hugely) and settled for shaving only what showed, only when necessary. When my hair began falling out in handfuls post-partum, I took that as a queue to resume waxing.

As others have said, every woman, and every pregnancy, is different. So take this for what it's worth to you, and don't sweat it because your mileage may vary.

The last thing I did the day before I knew I was going to the hospital was get waxed! I was 36 weeks pregnant with twins. I couldn't see OR reach anything below my belly. When I got there they were appreciative because they weren't sure if they would have to give me a c-section which required them to shave that area anyway. If you've waxed in the past it certainly doesn't hurt more- though I acknowledge pregnancy hits everyone differently with the skin irritation and such. You're pregnant- you deserve to treat yourself if that's what you want.

I really would like to get that done-- I wondered myself if it was an issue. Seems like the pregnancy hormones make hair grow faster...but just the hair I don't want, not the hair on my head LOL

I did it and I don't know if it was because I was so sensitive, but it hurt worse than labor! :) I almost threw up it hurt so badly!!! I just wanted to share...I know lots of women who do it during pregnancy with no problems.
When not pregnant, I do it all the time with little pain. This was horrible!
