Hello...
I am thinking about introducing baby signing to my kids...not sure I am totally sold on it but I would at least like to try one video. Can anyone recommend one?

What can I do next?

I taught my 2 year old and we are working on my 8 month old. We used Signing time videos and reinforced the signs my self. I love it!!! The company is so nice and have always responded to my email with question personally. Depending on the age of your child the baby signing time video is best but since my daughter is older we also bought the regular signing time and she loves those as well. If you have any more questions feel free to contact me. The videos can be purhased at signingtime.com. Have funn and good luck!

Hey Nicole,

You can buy the Baby Signs book used on Amazon and it will be just as effective. Just learn a few of the signs and start doing them yourself in front of your little ones. They'll eventually pick them up. Your kids may even begin using their own signs that they made up for things.

I'm an Early Childhood Specialist and I highly recommend using signs with pre-verbal kids. It is amazing how much it helps, and it can even help your child talk sooner (there's some research suggesting this).

Let me know if you have any more questions.

I just saw that Baby Einstein has just come out with a "Baby's First Signs" video that teaches the basics (like mommy, eat, etc.). I was really pro-signing before my daughter was born, but I found I didn't take the time to learn it after she was born. However, I did periodically do the "more" sign with her (to try to curb grunts & whines when she wanted more). One day out of the blue, she just started doing it. I have to say, it's nice that she can express herself before her verbal vocabulary is still small!!

FasTrack Signing videos and flashcards can be purchased at FasTracKids in Naperville (RT. 59 and 103rd). The phone number is ###-###-####. They also offer classes to get you started. They teach using a Teddy Bear to show the students the signs. It's really a wonderful teacher taught by Tell them Chrissy sent you. Good luck!
