My daughter is 10 weeks old and I want to get some pictures taken of her. When she was 2 weeks we went to JC Penny's and they did a pretty good job. However I'm looking for a photograpy studio that is a little more original and does well with babies. A lot of the good pictures I've seen in the mall studios are of 6 mo+. And since she can't sit up right now I want someone who knows what to do with her. I've seen some photography studios on the internet but I just lost my job and can't afford their prices. I'm desperate because she's growing so fast. Has anyone had any good experiences anywhere local or know of a great inexpensive photographer. Please help!!

What can I do next?

I agree, if money is an issue definitely try to take some on your own! Some of the best pictures of my son were him propped up on some pillows covered by a blanket that I had taken. If you find yourself stressing over cute poses just ask a friend to help you or I'll try to brainstorm for a few. Taking them at home is great because if you use a digital camera you are not wasting any film with her moving or not smiling on cue and you get to pick which ones you want enlarged or not, and if your like me and can't decide then you can afford to get everyone in the family a different pose! Good Luck!

Sorry to hear about loosing you job. honestly if you are looking for something inexpensive and good with young babies, the best thing to do is see if a friend has a nice digital camera and take some at home. That way you can use your own props and stuff to set around her. I have some of the best pics from being at home of being in an outdoor environment. With going to studios and babies that small, a lot of people are very cautious of manuevering them. When my daughter was that small, I took her to the picture people but even they weren't sure how to handle her- I know Kiddie Kandids are good too but can be pricey. I would try the at home layout or outdoors. Hope this will help.

I took my daughter to Portrait Innovations (behind the Chandler Mall, next to the Target) for her 1 year pictures. They were soooo great! Of course she's older and was walking around, so I can't say how they would do with someone your daughter's age, but I was really impressed. I ended up spending more than I wanted just because they came out so well. The best thing is that you get to view your pictures a few minutes after your session is over, it's all digital. I might suggest doing this place for a "big" picture occassion, such as the 1 year mark or around the holidays for family pictures too.

I have actually really had great success with Targets Portrait Studios. They are inexpensive and have lots of props you can choose from. I have used them several times and will continue to use them.

My sister in law uses Portrait Innovations- there is one by the Chandler Mall. She gets her kids pictures taken every month for their first year, and all of hers have come out great. So of course they have to be reasonable in order for her to do this! I used them around Easter and the pictures turned out so cute. But I used them for a 2 and 8 year old, so I'm sure it will be different for you. The photographer has lots of props and back drops and they don't have their camera on a stand, they just walk around and try to get the best shot they can. They have a portrait package special for $9.95 with no sitting fees and this includes quite a few pictures. They let you choose one pose for this package, and then where they might get you is the extra pictures, because of course you fall in love with them and you want to buy them all. But my sister in law has told me that if you spend like $80- you get the disc, which has all of the pictures on it (a lot of them) and then you have them all. $80 may be too much, but that is how you get all of the poses. It is up to you and how hard it is for you to decide on a pose! Hope this helps! Their website is portraitinnovations.com
Good luck!

I have a client who recommended Portrait Innovations. I was complaining about how expensive pictures are and there is usually some flaw in them. She showed me pictures of her baby and they were beautiful and she said very reasonably priced. This was when I lived in Tucson. She would drive down to Chandler to visit her In-laws and make an appointment to get the baby's pictures done in the same day. I haven't tried them out yet, but that is where I'm going next.

I would have to check with my husband and see if he's up for it...but he has a little side photography business - he can do photos at a location like your home or a park (we don't have a studio set up or anything). He uses a high quality Nikon digital slr camera and has done photos for some of our friends. We have a great online lab we use for prints that is very reasonably priced and high quality. If you don't have any luck finding anything else, shoot me a message and we can see what we can work out. Just a suggestion and good luck!! :)

I second Portrait Innovations! If you are on a budget this is the perfect place to go. They have a large package that is only $9.95! Of course that is only for one pose, so if you want more than that, the price goes up. It is really nice because you see the pictures right away and you get to decide which ones you do or don't want, while also seeing the price you are at in the margin. If you know you only want to spend $30, then you reduce your poses until you are at that price!

They also take wonderful pictures and are good with the children! I have gone there four times in the last year and have only had great results!

Hi There, there's a terrific photographer (at least I thought so) and her website is www.capturetheimageofali.com. I found her through a 3d/4d company website and I had some family and pregancy photos taken with her. She's super nice, a mother of 2 kids herself and for being a professional I thought her prices were very reasonable. Her pricing and examples of her work are all on her website.
Otherwise, I found JC Penneys to be one of the better Mall photography studios. Sears does a fairly decent job as well. Hope that helps and good luck.
