Are you talking about Ramen noodles? If so, Ramen noodles have tons and tons of sodium and carbohydrates and no nutritional value. A 9 month old should NOT be eating that, it is not normal and not OK!! They should be eating fruits, vegetables, protein and calcium. Yes, if they are eating an entire package that is WAY too much. One package has 2 servings per package.

This can be normal. My kids ate A LOT until the age of 4! However, don't give her all of the food you have to offer at once (if she eats it off of her tray). Maybe put a small portion down on her tray and then add more as she demands it. I'm sure you already know this, but just in case, make sure you are not giving her the packet (only the noodles). The flavor packets are bad news. Ridiculously high in sodium and MSG. I have no idea what else she enjoys eating but here are some other ideas if you are looking for some.....boil up dried pasta (maybe something small like the macaroni shape; inexpensive too) and store them in a container in the fridge. Grill a chicken breast and cut it up into tiny cubes (store that in a baggie in the freezer and pull out what you need at a meal so nothing goes bad). They will defrost quickly. I would feed my little ones the veggies we were eating that night. However, sometimes I would defrost frozen veggies and give that to them. Cheese quesadillas (cut up tiny). Using corn tortillas is better for them than flour. Buy cans of low sodium beans. Give them a good rinse and then store them in a container in the fridge. Fresh avocado is on sale right now. My kids loved little avocado chunks and it is a SUPER food! Lastly, fresh fruit, applesauce, and once she's 1 she can have scrambled and boiled eggs. Don't worry so much about how much she's eating, just be certain that you are not unintentionally overfeeding her. Make sure she's listening to her body. Have fun with your baby.

I agree with the others. The amount is not at issue. The noodles are. Make your own. It will be better for her.

Is this really a legitimate question or one of those "bait" questions people put out there. Here goes anyway: Do you have a pediatrician? I can't believe they haven't given you proper guidance and nutritional information regarding the feeding of your child. Are you on any state or government assistance, WIC, anything? maybe they have some free information or classes you could attend, Maybe just stick to baby food then she will be getting the nutrition she needs!!

Sweetie, that is just totally the inappropriate thing to be feeding a 9 month old. She probably is swallowing whole because at 9 months they don't understand the whole chewing thing. I think you need some guideance on properly feeding your kid.

Ramen noodles are pure sodium, no protein, fiber... so it won't fill her up, that's probably why she's eating a lot of it.

Are you saying she eats the entire package of Top Ramen noodles? If so that's not good unless you've made it more nutritious by adding meats and veggies and put in 1/2 or less of the flavoring packet. The packed is loaded with sodium which is not good for anyone.

Babies love noodles. I'd cook up regular noodles, add a small amount of butter and some protein (meat or cheese) and veggies, all cut up small. Or stir in foods that you've blended. Much healthier!

Babies kidney's really cannot tolerate a lot of sodium so ramen noodles are not the best choice for a 9 month old. You would want to steer clear of all foods with MSG or High fructose corn syrup. You can just make plain pasta for her and try and give her some veggies with it and some meat once she can handle it. As far as the amount she eats I would discuss that with her pedi.
**** I am sorry you have had to deal with such condescending responses like Leslie P and D H. It is interesting that people assume that you are on some sort of gov't assistance simply because you chose to feed your child ramen noodles. We are all new mothers at some point and we don't come to this journey knowing all of the answers! So ladies, let's just answer questions in a supportive and helpful manner and leave the degrading out of it!!

They grow fast at this age and there is not much to ramen noodles. I would not be concerned, but I would feed her something more filling.

Sounds like a lot, but I agree with Katie that she may be heading for a growth spurt soon. My son still eats like a 300 pound trucker when he's about ready for a growth spurt. I know you only mentioned the noodles, but does she eat the healthy stuff with the same gusto?

Please do not feed your little one ramen noodles...or at least no flavoring packet. They are loaded with MSG which is a neurotoxin. It is bad news.

The noodles would be ok, given she eats them as part of an overall balanced diet. Veggies first, then WHOLE grains, fruits and legumes. Nuts and seeds are very healthy provided no allergies.

Be sure to read labels and avoid negative ingredients...those that do not promote optimal health. Those are HFCS, MSG, and any artificial colorings or flavorings. All may be described and 'GRAS...generally recognized as safe' but none of these compounds have been studied in combination to see how they interact in the body.

I am taking a series of wellness classes taught by a Naturopath who has her PhD in Nutrition. I have a BUNCH of info if you would like to know more about these topics...or others concerning a diet that promotes optimal health. Good luck. D.

My 9month old would drink over 20oz in one sitting, but we didn't start feeding him meals until he was about 1. Kids can eat a LOT. We didn't start table foods until he was a year old, but when we did... prior to a growth spurt he would eat double what my DH ate. During a growth spurt he wouldn't eat enough to keep a bird alive.

Some 9 month olds can put away some food. if her weight is in target range for her age, and she's healthy and happy, I wouldn't worry but when in doubt ask her ped.

Well how is her weight? They grow so much at that age, so it could be ok, if her weight is doing good. The only thing I would be a little concerned about with raman noodles is the salt content, it is crazy high. Even as an adult, I only use half the packet if I ever eat them. So you might want to consider that or just give her some noodles with a little butter instead. Good luck!

She will probably be having a growth spurt soon. I will never forget at that age what my daughter ate for breakfast one morning, 3 sausage links, a toaster waffle and a whole large banana. She was 16 lbs at the time. They will amaze you sometimes :)
