Hello Ladies
We are going up to Blue Ridge, GA at the end of the week. On the way we are going to pass Cleveland, GA home of the cabbage patch kids. As a child of the 80s I can not wait to take my little girls. We figure it would be a good place to get out and strech our legs before the final hour of the trip. We also would like to get our 2 year old a cabbage patch, that way she has a brand new toy to keep her occupied for our week at the cabin in the mountians. :)

My question that I can't seem to find an answer to is does anyone have any idea how much they cost? I do not want to adopt a "real" cabbage patch kid (I know the adoption for these runs anywhere form $50-$500) I just want to get her one of the "toy" dolls, the ones with the vinyl face. I would rather buy it there for the whole "experience" of it. But if there are upwards of $30 I'll just buy one at Target and hide it in the car until we leave.

So has anyone been recently, and does anyone know how much the dolls cost?

THANK YOU in advance!

So What Happened?

Thank you ladies for all the advice. I went to three different stores today and finally found Cabbage Patch dolls. I got my two year old a "suprise newborn" so we will see if it is a boy or girl when we get there, right now it's dressed in cabbage so I thought that would be cute since we are going to the tree and everything. And I got the baby a little one dressed in a giraffe costume. It doesn't make sense but it is adorable and cuddly, with no extra pieces. They were less than $30 together so that's what I was looking for. I felt like a mommy of the 80s searching around for them. I know I have seen them all over the place, but only when I wasn't looking to buy. It's that how it always goes?

The only one target had were these snap and go ones, they came with hair excessories, and different length hair pieces, which is just not something I need around the house!

Thanks again.

The ones online are not for sale at Babyland, or so I've heard. That's why I wanted to ask you wonderful mamas here! Like someone suggested, If we find one there for a good price we will just return the ones I bought at Toys R Us.

Glad you found them. I remember getting my cabbage patch doll in ontario when we were visiting family, think it was 1984!! We had to queue for ages!! I still have mine packed away somewhere, she was called Lenore Lorinda and was very girly and my sisters was K. Crystal and was sporty. Ah the happy memories. Lol

If I remember correctly (it's been almost 5 years since we visited Baby Land), their prices were pretty up there. I think you're on the right track with purchasing from a regular retailer in advance.

My almost two year old has two cute and cuddly cabbage patch kids and one special delivery surprise baby doll. They were priced I believe they told me around $15 -20 dollars, from Toys r us, Walmart or Target.

They were upwards of $30.00 when we were there 15 years ago. I doubt they've gone down, lol. Sammy is still with us!

They have some called 'Toy Cabbage Patch' and a subset of that called 'My First CPK'. They seem to be $15.

I just checked out the official cabbage patch kids online store and the classic dolls are $40. I'm guessing they would be the same price at babyland.

This is one of my FAVORITE memories!!! I remember every little detail (born in 82) and I think I was 5 or 6 when we went. I am sure your girls will cherish it forever! I would not buy there, as it was super expensive in the 80's and I am sure it is even more expensive now. Maybe let the girls pick out an outfit for each of their dolls or an accessory! Makes me want to take my girls...but no longer in GA. :( Have a blast!!! :)

I haven't been, but my parents went when I was a little kid and I remember all their exciting stories...I was so jealous! They did adopt two "real" babies and they are pretty cute! ;) Did you check their website and see if you can see any merchandise inside the store? I'd imagine they have the toy ones there and are probably priced a little bit over the store dolls, but not much. You could always buy one at home, save the receipt, hide it and then see! If you find one there you can always return the one you bought when you come home! Have fun! I'm still jealous...I'll have to make it there someday!
