Anyone Have a Good Referral for a Special Occasion Hair Stylist in the City?

Mary at Karma Salon in Andersonville does my color and regular cuts. While I have never had her do my hair for a special occassion (i know she does lots though), I absoulutely would b/c when I leave the salon I don't want to touch it (& wish i could do what she does on a regular basis!). I have long, very wavy hair and have seen many stylists over the years. She is excellent. The salon is on Balmoral, right near Ravenswood/Balmoral corner, just east of Rogers Park Montessori & prices are excellent compared w/downtown salons.

Gordon at Joseph Michael's Salon at State and Huron in Chicago. I used him for my wedding and have gone back to get my hair styled for every black tie event I've attended for the last 7 years. He is really the best at making your hair look red carpet and not like you think your attending a prom! :)

I see a girl who does hair out of her condo in the West Loop, she is fabulous (did my hair for my wedding too), doesn't charge the city salon prices, but you definitely get city salon style! Her name is Lindsey, if you want her info, just reply back to me.

I don't know of one in the city, BUT I am very close friends with the best stylists EVER she's at Attitudes in Lombard on Roosevelt Rd - ask for Holly! Every time I walk out of there, I feel like the Breck girl! : )

I can't remember the stylist name, but she's very petite,( about 5 feet) short hair, spunky personality. Really cute. Her station is on the right hand side when you walk in 2nd chair...they would know who she is...she styles and cuts hair. She did a girls hair for a wedding and it turned out fabulous, just what you described...I will be having her do my nieces for my wedding.

Each stylist specialisizes in certain things,..so they would know who she is.

I know you are looking for someone in the city, but in case you don't find one, give Daniel Stevens a try. They are located in Downers Grove. Lots of people go there for the long, bouncy curls you are seeking.

My friend is absolutely fabulous...I've known him and his wife for 20 years. Their salon is J Andrews on the corner of Goethe and Dearborn..it's small, friendly, sophisticated, oh so relaxing and chic and sophisticated.
And they are wonderful parents to two teenage boys.

And, for whatever it's worth, I should know because I'm a psychologist...and know who good people are.
