Hey there! Does anyone have a stylist they would recommend? I have curly hair about shoulder lengh but I am considering cutting it a little shorter. I'd love to make it look a little less curly and more wavy but I need help. And is there anyone out there with wavy/curly hair that has it shorter in the back, longer towards the front? I just have to do something different.
Thanks!

I just cut my hair into that stacked style of shorter in the back and longer in the front. I actually posted on here about the same thing. I LOVE it. But, I wear it straight, not wavy. I do leave it wavy occasionally, when I know I am not going anywhere, but it is too short to look "right". But if you kept it a little longer than mine, it might work. Mine is short in the back. I can't even get a ponytail. But it only take me about 5-10 minutes to blowdry and 5 min, to straighten. I went to L. Thomas in Orland and her name was Maggie. I really liked her. Good luck!

I have the same hair and have a great stylist. Her name is Rachel and she owns Prink Salon in Chicago. I have been going to her for 10 or so years. She gave me a shorter in the back/longer in front bob a few years ago that was very cute.

**I forgot to mention that I found Rachel by calling a salon (that she used to be at) and asked for someone who could handle my kind of hair**

Stay at home mamas ROCK! I have naturally curly hair and my 3 year old has curly/wavy hair. I LOVE my stylist...she is amazing...her name is Deana and she works for Michael & Michael hair salon. She gives amazing cuts and she always gives me styling tips. She cuts my daughters hair as well...and it has never looked better! Curly hair is so hard to manage sometimes. Deana will be able to tell you how to wear it more wavy too! I keep my hair pretty long but have had it short. She does a good job! Hope this helps! ---A. C.

I did the shorter in back longer in the front look and I liked it. BUT going shorter always means curlier for me, the longer it is the more the curl is stretched by the weight in the length of the hair. I've got the corkscrew kind of curls.

I can get the wavy by wrapping sections around a curling iron. It actually loosens the curl for me, but its tedious if you have a lot of hair.

OR - if you don't do this already - let water smooth out your curls for you. In the shower, comb through your hair while you have conditioner in it, then turn your head upside down to rinse creating tendils. Just blot your hair with your towel and while still mostly wet add enough mousse to coat all your strands. No combing or styling, just air dry. The weight of the water while air drying smooths and stretches the curls and the not combing part lets your hair create locks instead of frizz.

Sorry I'm so verbose, but I've done ALOT of research. Hope something is beneficial to you.

After years of trying to beat my curly hair by straighting it, I gave in and cut it to my shoulders and had layers put in and then I put garnier fructis curl construct mousse in when it dries and I love it!! Especially as a SAHM of 2 (one in Kindergarten) while I get them ready for the day I let my hair air dry and then I go in and put the mousse in and a little hairspray and go! I go to someone out of their house, for the price and the one on one attention I feel I get, in Lansing. If you would like to venture out this way I could give you her info. Just email me back. Good Luck

I just got 5 inches cut off my curly hair. I got a style like the longer concave bob that Jenny McCarthy wears. My stylist is Tina at Amici Hair Salon near Randhurst. (A little out of the way, but I've been going there forever.) Tina herself has curly hair, so she knows how to cut it. ###-###-####

Michael L from his home in Midlothian, (near 151st and Pulaski) takes care of all my family, including my Mom's color and mine. We both have difficult hair, and mine is extremely thick and wavy. We live in Orland Park and the drive is very worthwhile. He does a wonderful job for us, cuts, color and styles, for the past several years and now I cannot imagine anyone else doing my hair. His prices are very reasonable and he is easy to book with, early mornings, nights and week-ends. His number is ###-###-####; tell him M. recommended him. You will enjoy him and be very happy with your hair!

I have medium length curly hair and I go to Maria at Mario Tricoci in Naperville. She is really good.

I did wear my hair shorter in the back on longer in front before. It looked pretty cute. Just ask your stylist what they think.

ASk for Chauncey at JC Penney Salon in Montgomery @ the intersections of Route 30 and Route 34. I used to work with her, and she is great at making curls behave. I have curly hair that depending on the weather can be quite lovely or a huge mess. I honestly can let my hair air dry with a little product and have it look great no matter what cut we have done, with the exception of humid weather, then it is just bun time. Having been a stylist myself for many years I can tell you that is not a cut I would typically reccomend for curly hair, unless you a. love fullness around your jaw line...which can be quite flattering on the right face shape, b. you have a very well defined, even curl pattern not prone to a lot of frizz...typically hair like this is also a little corser so it holds shape better. If you have a tone of fine curly frizz prone hair I'd look into to discussing some other options. Now if your hair is more wavy than curly this cut can be absolutley FABULOUS!! If left natural it has a very romantic, retro feel to it, if blown straight very sheek and modern. If you live closer to La GRange go see Erika at Fantastic Sams, also a person I used to work closely with for many years, and also someone with whom I can air dray any and all of the many cuts she has given me. Good luck.

Hi L. - don't know where you are, city or suburbs but here is one more recommendation for the city. Wendy at Duet in Lincoln Square (Damen & Wilson). ###-###-####. I and my curly/wavey hair been going to her for about 5 - 6 years. She too has curly/wavey hair and knows how to cut it - and won't give you a style that won't work with your hair. Good luck!

I have the short spiky hair in the back and chin length in the front and also have curly/wavy hair.

At first it was a pain because I kept trying to straighten the back but found that if I just pulled it out while blowdrying on low it would be more wavy and now I only straighten the front. I then use Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Wax on the back to get it spiking upwards! Now that I figured it out I am loving every second of it... and on rainy days I just throw on a hat and say screw it-who do I have to impress! lol It takes me about 15 minutes total to style now and I am not stuck with the boring ponytail anymore!

Good luck and remember- it is only hair and it will grow back!

I have mostly curly hair, however they are not tight curls so after a long day or sleeping on them it's wavy. I have a great stylist at Mario Triocci Old Orchard, her name is L. and I love her. I haven't had anyone else cut my hair in over 7 years, she is awesome!

As for the asymmetrical cut...I have had it bobbed with it shorter in the back and angle longer as it got to the front and if I didn't straight it (blow dryer, iron the whole 9 yards) you couldn't tell it was anything other then a bob. The shorter you cut my hair, the springier the curls are.

However it's just hair and it grows back, so if you want to try something new you should!

If you are int he northern suburbs, I love Melissa at Elizabeth Arden in Deerfield. She cut about 5 inches off of my wavy/curly/frizzy mop into a Jenny McCarthy-ish style. I can air dry it with frizz/curl control lotion in it for curls or straighten it in about 5 minutes with the flat iron for a sleek finished look (I just let it air dry or blow dry it but do not have to straighten while drying.) Good luck!!
