Hello, I am trying to plan my Disney world trip and was wondering if anyone has been in Disney the last week in August or over Labor Day weekend. I tried WDW moms panel and found conflicting opinions. If anyone has gone that time, can you please tell me how your experience was with the crowds, heat, ect.
Thank you,
K.

Other than the weather (now I know what hell feels like), it may be a good time to go. I think the crowds will be less because because of schools starting. You got the best advice already -- pacing, going early and back to the hotel for the hottest part of the day. And LOTS of water and shade rides/sites.

Have a great time!

It is an excellent time for Disney as long as you are not too bothered by the heat (it is usually low to mid 90s). The crowds are significantly lower but everything is still operating on full schedule. Disney offers a free dining promotion from mid-August through September so you will want to book sooner than later if you are interested in cashing in on that! I second the go early and get out before the sun is strong in the afternoon. We stay on property so it is a breeze to get back to your hotel and refresh during the hottest (and often rainy) part of the day. If you do the free dining plan you will want to set your dinners early enough to than be able to enjoy something more in the evening - rides, fireworks, downtown disney.

If you decide to go for it - let me know and I will give you a bunch more suggestions to make your experience truly magical - - - I am becomming a bit of a Disney guru! - J. (____@____.com)

We went with our 3 kids (6, 4, & 2 at the time) in Sept. 2007. We left the Sunday before Labor Day and stayed through that Saturday. Crowd-wise it was great. We hardly ever waited to get on a ride, even the most popular ones. My 4-year-old son went on Soaring 4 times without waiting on line! As far as the weather, it was sweltering hot. We drank more water than you would believe. On the plus side, we saw almost no rain except one brief shower. We survived the heat mostly by getting to the parks first thing in the morning, staying til only about 2, then heading back to our hotel for some down time of napping or swimming. Then we'd change clothes and go out to dinner and maybe a few more rides or fireworks. Worked for us. At 8 & 4, your kids can probably handle it. Remember too, some of the attractions are air-conditioned and/or shady. All in all, I would go that time of year again.

I have been down there the last week in August leading into Labor Day weekened - it is very warm but the crowds are not bad at all. If I recall we were able to do the rides we liked several times with little to no line. The kids in the south start school in August (so they are not there) and most of the parents in the North are not doing vacations that week because they are getting kids ready for school. I think it is a great week to go!
