4Yr Old Boy Bday Gift

What are the best toys you have ever gotten your 4yr old Boy? My son has just about everything (or so it seems by looking in his 3 playrooms in our house). So I am struggling with what to buy him for his 4th bday next month. Any and all ideas welcome. All $$ too... I am fine with spending $10 or $500, if it is the RIGHT present. Thanks!

Thanks... and please keep the ideas coming! He already has a Thomas train and table set, and the Batcave, legos, Cars/Cars 2 stuff, and every superhero imagineable. We are going to Disney on Ice this Thursday. He has all kinds of bikes/4 wheelers, etc. I like the idea about Zoo, an experience type thing... but wouldn't he be disappointed if he only opens up a ticket/flier and not a toy at his bday party??? Thanks!

What can I do next?

My son's 4th birthday is today. (YAY!!) His party was on Sunday. His three absolutely favorite gifts were a sprinkler water slide for this summer, his big kid's bike and helmet (which have already gotten a lot of use), and his goldfish.
:) Enjoy!

How about an activity like going to a pottery place and having him paint a bowl, mug, piggy bank, etc. My 4yo boy has tons of toys but we like to take them places to do stuff now instead of buying more junk to clutter the house and toy room. (We have three boys so TONS of toys)

Buy experiences not stuff :)

I think it is wonderful that you have enough money to not have to worry about the cost of a present for your son. I don't think that I would personally be willing to spend $500 on a present all at once for a four year old though. Does your son really have 3 playrooms full of toys? I think if I were in your shoes, I would want to teach my son to think about others. My son has many toys too, but definitely not three rooms worth. When my son turned 4, we went through his things and decided to give the toys he no longer played with that were in good condition away to some families in our church who didn't have so much money. With the recent tornadoes that have gone through the midwest, including Indiana, I am sure that there would be many kids who would be so happy to get some toys. You might go through those three rooms of toys and see if there is something he might like to donate. Then, after you see what your son really likes to play with, you can add something to that for his present. The Thomas train sets can all be played with together. My son has multiple sets of Thomas. It is great for problem solving and figuring out how to put track together to make a new town. Legos can also be added to other sets to create new ideas. You could give your son the gift of giving to the less fortunate, being grateful for those things he has, as well as decluttering your house, and giving your son more room to be creative with the toys he does like playing with now. You could also do a special activity together like going to the zoo. Birthdays are a chance to celebrate the love we have for someone. Make it special as a day and not just about the gift he gets. You could also tell him how happy you were when he was born, and how special a blessing he is in your life now. I go through the photo albums with my son and tell him the story of his birth and how he joined our family. It's just an idea. I hope your son will have a wonderful birthday!

Tickets to a children's production series. Seriously. My son will be 4 in May and while he loves his toys (especially the LEGOs), he doesn't really need/want any more right now.

My parents bought him/us a set of tickets to the local theater where they do childrens shows on Saturday mornings and he LOVES them! They bought a set of four (family package) so we either go together or I take him and he gets to invite a friend and their mom. Great gift!

What about something that goes outside? Does he like sports, or camping, or other outdoor activities? Maybe you could get him his own fishing pole and accessories and then make some time to go on a family fishing expedition. Or what about a bike, or roller skates? A basketball hoop?

I agree with AG legos are good at that age. If there is something he is into see if they have them for that theme. If you have a yard if he don't have one those moterised cars boys all ways love that they can drive themselves.

My boys love playmobil. There is a lot of little parts so we keep it in a tote and set it up on the table when they want to play with it.

Tinker Toys and an ant farm. He received both of these when he was four and enjoyed them so much they were are go to gifts for every party we went to for a four year old. Yes - girls can play with tinker toys and watch ants just as well as boys.

My boy loved action figures like power rangers or super heroes at that age. The other gift that I gave him that didn't cost anything but about a 1/2 hour of time was coloring pages that I downloaded from the internet of NFL Football helmets and logos. He absolutely loved that more than anything I ever bought him at that age.

I got my son his first video system on his 4th birthday (that was 1990 though).

Does your son have a electric drivable car? That's fun but requires space and adult willing to monitor.

Or, don't make it a big gift, make it a fun day at the zoo allowing him to pick his gift form the gift shop.

Whoah...500 dollars for a 4th birthday present??? My son is getting a party and a family trip to the Ringling Brother's circus. As for presents, what does he like? My son loves anything color change. He favorites are the cars from Cars and Cars 2. He loves to take them into the bath. Does he likes trains? My son also like the Motorized Thomas trains.

My son is an outdoor kid. For Easter he's getting a batting tee, baseball glove and bag since this is the first year he can play tee ball. Last year we wanted to get him a 2 wheel bike for his birthday but since it is in January, we gave it to him for Easter. He loved it! He also loves his VTech Vreader and his Leapfrog TAG system. I like them because they are more educational and reinforce things he's learning right now.
