1St Birthday Monkey Theme Invitation Wording and Time ?

the wheels are already spinning for my 2nd son's 1st birthday party invitation. We are doing a chunky monkey theme, and I can't get the wording right and I am also continually waiver over the time of the party. I'm hoping all you mamas can help me figure this out...

We will be just serving 'monkey' snacks & cake n' ice cream so I'm limited to a non-meal time. I initially said 2pm...But the party will be held on his birthday which is the 25th of September.. Here in CA especially Northern CA, the weather can be unpredictable. My hunch is that it'll be a scorcher but then again we've had some nice days this past week. 2 pm will be right in the heat of the day (and I am hoping to keep everyone outside (but the babies) if need be) So 4 pm is sounding like a more reasonable time...But its the end of the day, I really don't know how the LO will be mood wise, & pretty much everyone will be traveling 1 or 2 to get here? So what time would you mommies recommend?

The 2nd dilemma, is that we have a pool, and although his party isn't going to 'be' a 'pool' party' I was trying to figure out a way to let everyone know that if its hot enough, and they want to, the pool will be open for swimming. Is this something I should put on the invite, or just by word of mouth?

With that in mind I was trying to come up with a cute invite saying for his invitation...And I am having such a hard time trying to make certain they know it will just be cake and ice cream & swimming is available? so far this is all I could come up with...Please feel free to critique or give some much needed suggestions

"Swing on By and have some fun, our little Monkey is turning 1!
Please join us for Cake and Ice Cream as we celebrate
N's 1st Birthday

FYI: ' If its too hot for your little monkey (s) our pool is available for a dunky' (made up word I know) OR
' If its hot in the sun do not fret, bring your suits and towels so you can get wet' OR keep it simple and just say flat out * The pool is available for swimming, feel free to bring your suits & towels...

TIA

LOVE N. P's poem! I always do silly poems for invitations....felt like chiming in, so here goes...doesn't flow, just some lines that rhyme to help you with your invitation.

Our monkey boy is turning one,
We hope that you will join the fun!

Our little one can't wait to see
His dearest friends and family.

Ice cream, cake, and snacks galore,
The party will begin at four!

It may be hot, but we'll keep you cool.
Bring your suits and jump in the pool!

From experience your "non-pool" party is going to become a pool party if you have the pool available so why not save time and just announce it as such? People will tend to gravitate toward that area once someone goes in. Just human nature! Love your monkey theme and wording! Very cute! As for the time I would go with 1:30 or 2 since it's after meal time and early enough that people won't be having to make the long trip home too late. Since you have the pool the heat won't be an issue as much as it will be welcomed. Have fun!!!

Invite should only have the main details:

Swing on by and have some fun, our little Monkey is turning One!
September 25
2 p.m.
Street Addresss
Nor Cal, Ca Zipcode (include zip for googling the address)
RSVP ###-###-####

When people call to RSVP, you can mention that you guys have a pool, and if it's hot, feel free to bring suits and towels to take a dip. You don't really want the pool to be the main focus of the day, so I would mention it as a sidenote, if at all.

2 p.m. is a great time! 4 p.m. runs too close to dinner especially if your party is 2 hours long - a typical party time.

Also checkout some online card companies, like Minted.com, for examples of wording. Just remember, simple message that introduces a theme (if you have one) and the important info is all you need!

Have a great party -- and Happy Birthday to your little one!

I like your 1st words for the invite, I think 3:30 or 4:00 is a good time, don't forget the "Monkey Bread"! I wouldn't worry too much about others as it is your son's birthday...maybe you can use "funky" dunky...I had a luauh SP for my sons 1st it was a blast, I wouldn't worry too much about it as they won't even remember, just do what you want, take lot's of pic..."Swing On By" etc...maybe this helps???

We are Monkey Finatics at my house - my son is only 3 and we've had two monkey themed parties so far.
Cutest invitations so far have come from a place called (of all things)
The Invitation Monkey

Happy upcoming birthday to your little Monkey!

I've got tons of favorties saved if you need anything.
