My 17 Month Old Can't Get Rid of Her Cold

My daughter is 17 months old and she just started daycare. We have been struggling with a cold for about two weeks now. She had gotten better for a few days than it came back again. We have tried everything that the doctor suggested. Elevating the head of her crib, kept a humidifier running, suctioned her nose and gave her childrens motrin every 6 hours. She has gotten a little better but she still can't seem to shake of her cough. Is there something else that I need to be doing?

Claritin and Other Allergy Meds

My son often gets runny nose/cough symptoms and my pediatrician has recommended that I try putting him on Claritin to manage those symptoms. I am reluctant to put him on medicine for prolonged periods of time. Dose anyone have information about any potential harmful effects of long-term use of allergy medicines in toddlers? Also, any suggestions of natural remedies that have worked would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Is It Asthma?

My 1 year old son has had a cough since the second week in January. He'll wake up in the middle of the night just hacking and chocking. He has a few fits during the day as well but it's really a night time thing. I've tried every kind of medicine there is and nothing seems to work. His ped. wants to start him on Asthma meds. to see if they help. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Does my son have asthma? I hate to label him with such a restricting illness.

Ongoing Runny Nose and Cough

My son, who is almost a year old has been getting colds the past 2 months (he is in daycare). His cold finally cleared but he continues to have a runny nose and cough on and off. There is no fever, he is active and eating as usual. He also started teething 2 weeks ago and his second pair of top teeth are coming in. The teething is really bothering him, he keeps biting everything, even his fingers. As far as I can tell, the medical community does not believe that teething causes runny nose and cough. I'm worried it may be allergies, even...
