5 Month Old with Cancer

Hey mamas, I got some very depressing news today from my sister. Her 5 month old, her only child, had a mass in his stomach, what they later found out was cancer. It is in or around his kidneys, and they are running several tests tonight and in the morning to see where it is, how big it is, and what type of cancer it is. I can't even imagine. Whoever you pray to, whatever you believe in, whoever your God may be, please pray for my nephew tonight and throughout the week. I am a firm believer in the power of prayer and good thoughts, so...

Gift Ideas-Cancer Survivor Party

I'm going to a toast for life thing on Saturday for a one year cancer survivor. It doesn't say anything about gifts and it is not during dinner (3-5pm) It is at a third party's home also. I'm not sure a gift is necessary, but I'd like to bring something small. Do you guys have any thoughtful ideas? Or funny ideas (he lost a testical to the cancer :O ) I have an embroidery machine and I could do a grilling apron with a funny or thoughtful saying. I could do something different altogether. I know you ladies will have some great ideas...

Any Other Mamas Dealt with Recurrent Fevers in Your Baby??

I'll start by saying I'm working with our fantastic pediatrician who is all over this and we've gotten lots of tests done...we're waiting for results which some will take about a week to get back. Having said all of that, here's what we're dealing with and I'm curious if anyone has seen this in their child and if there was a diagnosis, what was it? Our ds is almost 14 months old and for the past, little over, two months we have dealt with recurrent high fevers. He'll have 1-3 days of low grade (99-100), a day or two of no fever and act...

Elective Mastectomies. Please Help Me Weigh This Descicion

I feel like a ticking time bomb. Every month I think about breast cancer. Every month I do my breast exams and wonder if this is the month I find a lump. My grandmother had breast cancer but didn't die of it, she caught it in time. My mother had breast cancer, but she didn't die of it either. My aunt had it fifteen years ago, she's still around and kicking. My sister however, has been battling breast cancer for six years and it's now traveled to her liver. She went through the battery of chemo and radiation last summer and the tumors are...
