Oxy Clean
How do you use Oxy Clean? I have a big jar of it and don't use it but think I ought to be. Is it really color safe? Is it good on old stains? I usually don't make a bucket and soak my clothes I tend to spray the stain and toss it into the washer. Can it be used anywhere else in the house? I keep seeing people refer to it so I bought it but it just stares at me on my laundry shelf.
Thanks

I LOVE LOVE LOVE oxy clean and use it for everything. you dont have to make a bucket and soak it. if my daughter gets a stain i rinse the item and put some oxy clean on the spot rub it in and let it sit for about 5 mins then throw in wash. every load of laundry i do colors and/or whites i put in a scoop of it. i use it on mu carpet too. my daughter has spilt speghetti, juice, macaroni and cheese on floor. wiping it with a damp cloth doesny always help. sprinkle some oxy clean over the spot on carpet and a little water scrub and it comes right up. Oxy clean is a life savor for me. I buy the big bucket and it usually lasts a coupkle months so its woth the money.
hope this helps.

Great for carpet stains...I even put it in my shampooer a couple of times. I also use it for a light colored fabric chair I have.

I tend to soak badly stained clothes in a bucket before throwing them in the wash. I always put a scoop in the washing machine when I'm washing my kids' stuff.

I do not use the powder, but I swear by the spray. I think the powder is used as a laundry detergent booster, and that you can use it to pre soak clothes.
I swear by the spray stain pre treater though, it has saved so many of my kids clothes. It is blue bottle with a yellow nozzle in the same aisle as the other spray stain removers like spray n wash etc.

I found that the powder didn't work well at all. I bought the spray (the baby kind) and it works amazing! I have never used it on anything else but it says on the back of the powder one it can be used to clean over 100 things around the house.

Yes, I used to use it all the time - in the laundry, as a pre-stain removal spray and to clean just about anything. I would put a scoop in the laundry and it acts as a booster. When my husband had a stain on his shirt, he would hand it to me and I would break out the oxy-clean, mix it in a spray bottle and soak the stain, then pop the shirt into the regular load of laundry (w/the oxyclean booster) and it would come out. It's good for ring around the collar too (along with Prell shampoo - yep, that cheap shampoo at a drug store strips out oils, so you just squeeze a little bit onto your dirty collared shirts, scrub a little with a brush and then pop into the laundry). You can also use oxyclean to clean your counters, your toilet, your bathtub...

I agree with Shawna P.....I LOVE Oxy-clean! I use the powder in EVERY load of laundry I wash and have never had trouble with fading or weakening of fabrics. I put the detergent powder and oxy-clean powder in the machine first, then run HOT water on lowest setting to be sure powders are dissolved, then turn on med/cool wash to fill machine and add clothes. If I have really stubborn stains....like the kids white sox that they insist on walking around in without shoes...even outside! (Drives me batty!)....or face towels I've used to remove makeup, etc....I put them in the small wash level after I've dissolved the powder, let them slosh around a minute or two to get really soaked with the solution, then leave them to soak for several hours, sometimes even a couple of days on badly stained articles....does a GREAT job on the stains......I just add more water and wash as usual after I feel the soaking has done it's job.
