Help Recommending an Area in Dallas

To make a long story short-- I need to find a place where my husband and I can meet up with my adopted daughter's birth family. They are coming to town to visit my husband and I-- they will not have contact with our daughter until she is 18 and makes that decision on her own. They don't know our last name or where we live. The agency has recommended we not do this in our neighborhood. I am really not sure where to suggest. They would like to meet up with us Friday night for dinner, stay in a hotel, and then meet up with us again on Saturday for awhile. Any ideas?

I was thinking that Addison has a variety of restaurants-- don't know about breakfast Saturday?

Same with North Park area?

I love the Arboretum and that could be fun to wander and visit on Saturday, but is a farther drive for us and I don't know of good places to eat down there?

I don't want to be too far from home since we will be paying for babysitters, but want a good place where we can go and visit and relax and not feel rushed.

Usually, we meet up at a fundraising banquet every year but our birthmom will be out of the country studying abroad, and we are trying to make our own "reunion" possible.

Help!!
Thanks,
A.

Hi,
I recommend the Rockwall, Texas area. We have a new area that is called "The Harbor". There is a new theater, great restaurants and boat docks all on lake front property. There is a Hilton Hotel at The Harbor with a nice sitting area that you could visit and take pictures. There is a nice sailboat cruise that you could take for $25.00 per person that I highly recommend. You start the cruise off the jetty by the light house at The Harbor. You can look up information about the sailboat cruise on www.sailwithscott.com. We went on the cruise a few weeks ago for 2 hours and it was so nice and very safe.I recommend booking your cruise on line but you can just walk up and see if there is room on the next cruise if you like.

Both of our daughters are adopted and my oldest daughter who is 19 years old met her birthmother and family last year. I hope all goes well on your visit with the birthmother.

It looks to me like Addison or NorthPark area would be a good meeting place. There are reasonable hotels in the Addison area. We love the Shops of Legacy and some Frisco spots but that might be a little too close for comfort for you (it would be for me).

So you are looking for a quiet dinner to chat? Have a cocktail? I am not sure what you are looking for so here goes.

Northpark area: Maggiano's, Cheesecake Factory, PF Chang's or head over to Greenville Avenue

Westlake Village (a little further South) has some nice shopping and restaurants.

Addison: so many restaurants I can't think of them right now along Beltline. Also Gloria's and a wine bar on the SE corner of Beltline and tollway

Del Frisco's and Lawry's Prime Rib off Spring Valley/Tollway area

There are some nice places to eat at the Galleria: Mi Cocini, Grand Lux, Grille

Trinity Mills/Tollway area: Ruth Chris, III Forks, Maguires, PF Chang's, Pappadeaux, Sullivan's

If you really want to do a little drive, go to the Gaylord Texan. Plenty of places to eat, explore and the Glass Cactus is a great night spot (not sure if you are into the night spot or not)

If I think of more I will add on. We love going out and we do it a lot so it is fun coming up with ideas!!

How thoughtful of you to keep contact with birthmom AND have the understanding that you will allow your child to make her own decision.

ADDED NOTE: IF you are meeting at a restaurant or place of business, don't make the reservations in your REAL name and start to settle up your bill, etc. (credit card or cash) make sure the waiters/bartenders/hosts do NOT address you by your last name. That would be an easy way for someone to pick up on your name. Google is TOO easy....just a thought

Best wishes to your family..
