Has Anyone Delivered at Tri-City?

I live in Oceanside, CA and am newly pregnant (6 weeks). I am not able to be in the Scripps network because of my insurance so I'm thinking about delivering at Tri-City. It concerns me a little - I've read some negative stuff. Has anyone delivered there? Also, I'm looking for an OB/GYN. Any recommendations? I'd really appreciate it! TYIA!

If you are a healthy women then I suggest looking into midwifery care. Research has shown that it is safer and healthier for you and the baby to have your baby outside the hospital. I just had my 3rd baby and second homebirth. It was the best thing!

I have learned that there is no status quo when it comes to these kind of things. I had a fabulous experience delivering at Tri-City but have heard some bad stories.

I went to Dr. Langley. Loved him, but he didn't do my emergency c-section that I ended up having. Dr. Langley is in a group close to the hospital that is great. There is even one of the nurses in the practice who does birthing classes in her home. Everyone in that office was great to deal with.

Good Luck!!

I delivered both my girls (ages 4 & 6) at Tri City and had a great experience both times. I was in a private room both times, nurses were very attentive and nice and the food was pretty tasty.

I delivered at Tri-City and had a positive experience(I also delivered at Scripps Encinitas and had a positive experience there as well.). I go to North Coast Women's Care in Vista(they delivered both of my children at Tri-City AND Scripps Encinitas). My primary care physician recommended them and I was not disappointed. So if your insurance is not accepting Scripps then I would recommend you contact your primary care physician to help you locate an OB AND call your insurance to see who they will cover(or check their website). Chances are your primary physician is in the same network as many OB's.
Good Luck and congratulations!

I felt a little scared about tri city also but I had a wonderful experience. I had a huge suit for the delivery and a really nice private room for recovery. It even had a pull out bed for my husband. When we went on the tour there they showed us the worst room for recovery and I was so scared I was going to be sharing a room and my husband wouldn't be able to stay but it couldn't have been better. I loved my delivery nurse, I think her name was Susan. My recovery nurses were just ok. I would suggest signing up for the Bring Home Baby class there and bring your husband. Sign up early the classes fill up fast. I was almost due when I finally got into an open class. Good luck!

I delivered both of my sons at tri-city and it was fine. I had some great nurses and some average nurses. When I checked in with #2, they gave me a wrong ID tag (I had them fix it of course) but I think they are not as on top of paperwork as they should be. The key is taking charge of your own rights and birth plan (no matter where you deliver). As long as you and your husband are sure to ask for exactly what you need/want and follow up, you should be fine. My OB for #2 was Dr. Langley at North Coast Women's Care (right by Tri-city) and they were great. He also delivers at Scripps Encinitas. I had Vista Way OBGYN for #1 and they were not as good. Good luck and congratulations on your pregnancy.

One of our very close friends just delivered there in January. We were all concerned, but everything turned out very well! I will ask her who her DR was...
