Help with Baby Registry

Hi moms, I'm ready to start creating and registering for items on my baby registry. This is our first child, and I really have no idea where to start. There is so much stuff out there I don't know what's really necessary. I also don't know how much of stuff to get! :) Could you please tell me what you think the basic needs are? Vaporizer or Cool Mist Humidifier for Congestion

Baby is congested. Sleeps best on my shoulder because of upright position. Needless to say, not getting a lot of sleep at night or stuff done during the day. I put wedge under mattress again but wanted something to help clear him up. Threw out old vaporizer. Is it better to buy new one or humidifier?
