When Did You Deliver Your 3Rd?

Just curious if your third came earlier than your 1st or 2nd? Only 24 weeks and this pregnancy is dragging I'm ready to be done!!!

My first was born exactly at 37 weeks (preterm labor with him tho' at 27 weeks so we were expecting earlier). My 2nd was pretty close to his due date, I had my membranes stripped 4 days before and went into labor that day (although they did change my due date twice, so he could have been 38 weeks vs the 39w4days). I'm hoping this one makes his entrance earlier, like my first, but I just have this inkling this kid is going to make me wait and wait?

So just curious how they all played out for those with 3 or more kiddos...

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Just to update had my 3rd (no time for the epidural to kick in 2 hr labor n delivery) at 37w4days. As the pregnancy progressed I felt he was going to even look like my 1st and he does. Splitting image and only a couple oz off weight wise....so crazy'

Number 1 one arrived the day after the his due date. Number 2 and number 3 were about a week late. Number 4 was also about a week later than expected, too, I think. (My children are all grown, so this is ancient history.) However, he was the only one to be born at the end of summer - the others were all spring babies. So I just thought it was the heat that made me feel I was going to be pregnant forever!

If the later pregnancies were "dragging" - and that does bring back memories - I assumed it was because, all other things being equal, later babies are easier to have but harder to carry.

I discovered that if I started painting a room or doing some sort of craft that took a lot of equipment that I had to leave out, that prompted labor to start in earnest. ;^) If I'd had a big project in August, maybe Daniel would have arrived then instead of waiting for September. But it was too doggone hot.

My first two were on time, my third came 10 days early because my water broke (only time that happened... with the other two my water broke right before delivery).

First - induced 9 days past my due date (hellish experience ending in (happily) a vaginal delivery (after 37 hours of labor).

Second - 100% natural waterbirth at 11 days post due date.
Third - 100% natural waterbirth at 5 days post due date.

First - 10 days ahead of due date. Second - 10 days late. But both of them were in the days before sonograms and the due dates were iffy. My third was 2 days after her due date, and my 4th was induced at 37 weeks.

#1 @ 39 weeks (water broke spontaneously)

#2 @ 37 weeks (water broke in the evening after having the membranes stripped in the morning)

#3 @ 38 weeks (had membranes stripped in the afternoon, went into labor in the middle of the night, water was broken at the hospital by the OB right before birth)

I was so sure that # 3 would be @ 37 weeks or earlier. I had loads of preterm labor and was in the hospital 5 times before he actually arrived. I was also sure my water would break at home like it did with my other two, but this labor was completely different. I went into hard labor in the middle of the night, barely made it to the hospital in time, the OB broke my water and he was born. It just goes to show how different each time can be. Best of luck for a smooth delivery. But hang in there, you have a long way to go! Put your feet up whenever you can! My older two watched a lot of TV when I was in my third trimester. It wasn't ideal, but I had to rest to keep from delivering early . We all survived!

First 40 wks 0 days
Second 39 wks 6 days
Third 39 wks 3 days
Fourth 38 wks 0 days (BIG surprise for me, water broke without any regular contractions happening, I was totally blindsided by that one!)

BUT, my SIL had her first two at 39 wks and her third at 40 wks 1 day (a Christmas baby!). She felt like she was waiting forever.

So you just never can tell.

My first came at 37 weeks after my water broke. I expected my second to be just as quick. I was 4 cm dilated for 4 weeks and finally 2 days after my due date they induced me. For my third, there was no dilation at all until around 38 weeks when I was a whopping 1 cm. I was induced 3 days after my due date, and I was still only 1 cm when I arrived at the hospital.

I have found that just like no 2 kids are alike, neither are 2 pregnancies or births. Good luck.

First child 17 days early. Second child 17 days early. Third child induced 5 days before due date (sorry!).

I will say that the third child was the most miserable for me - even more than babies number 4 and 5. I gained weight really fast, so started showing and being uncomfortable really fast. My breasts mutated to non human size causing serious upper back pain. My round ligaments hurt constantly and I got hip dysplasia and my pubic joint separated and I spent the last three months in constant pain. I remember going into false labor and having contractions until we walked into the door of the hospital and then they suddenly stopped. I was around 38 weeks. After 30 minutes of big fat nothing they sent me home and I cried the whole way. I was hysterical and yelling, "She's gonna be 16 and can't drive because she's still gonna be right here! 16 years overdue!!"

The last two were a million times better by comparison.

The good thing is, when I saw her and held her and kissed her head it was all worth it! It will be for you, too!!
