Come on Baby!

OK... so I am 37.5 weeks along in my second pregnancy... For me this one has been a lot "more pregnant" than my last, although thankfully it has been a healthier, less complicated pregnancy! I just had worse morning sickness... I feel bigger... I am more tired .... I have much worse aches and pains, I crave everything, and I am generally annoyed with being pregnant at this point.

I want my baby to come! I am over the fun part of being pregnant, and I am ready for the next step! Even though I am not even at my due date yet... I feel like I have been pregnant FOREVER!

So a few questions:
For those ladies out there that are pregnant now... are you over it yet? How far along are you?
Has anyone ever personally had success with a "wive's tale" method of getting labor going?.... I won't be downing bottles of castor oil... but I might be able to handle some mexican food!
Does anyone know if your second pregnancies will be longer or shorter than your first (on average)? Not the labor and delivery... the PREGNANCY! I swear every day feels like a week to me! I just want a glimmer of hope... or even something to tell me to dig in my heels!

-M.

PS: Despite all my groaning, I really do just want a healthy baby... I won't be doing anything crazy to endanger that.... Even if I HAVE to be pregnant for another month- ugh!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

well... I had my baby one day before her due date! We went in for an induction and SURPRISE... I was already contracting! My second daughter, Zoie was born on 06/16/2011... Yay!

What I think helped a lot was Raspberry Leaf Tea.... and a little bit of patience!

Thanks Everyone!

If at all possible GO SWIMMING. Dont' care what you think you look like in a swimsuit - you are pregnant and beautiful. The water takes away all of the extra weight feeling and aches and pains, at least temporarily :)

Hang in there love!
I was 2 days past my due date and was induced with my first and had a planned induction at 38 wks with my second. I could not have stood one more day with my second! I've heard sex is the best medicine!

I feel for you! I had my son in July, so I know that you must be getting miserable. My 1st pregnancy was 37 weeks. So when I was 4 cm at 36 weeks with my son, everyone assumed he would be there by 37 weeks. Nope! Every week after that I remained at 4 cm. By 40 weeks I told my doctor that he promised me a baby 4 weeks ago and he better get him out pronto. I had an induction the next day. I would have your doctor strip your membranes, this usually gets things going (they did it with my first, with my second, they didn't because doc was out of town from 37 weeks to 40 weeks). My SIL had lots and lots of sex and her water broke in the middle of it at 38 weeks, kind of gross, but she was desperate. Every pregnancy is different so I don't think you can base when the second comes on when the first came. Good luck, lots of air conditioning and showers!

Tehehe, I love your post!

I've heard walking and sex could help.

Too bad you just can't SLEEP through the last few weeks, huh?

Well, what goes IN must come OUT!

Won't be long now, congrats!

I went a week earlier with my second. I was close to 37.5 weeks when I delivered him. I gotta say I did a lot of walking (worked a double the day before) and I was in love with red raspberry leaf tea the day before I had him I drank a lot of it. Some people swear by it, it did absolutely nothing for my sister though. Hope you're holding a beautiful healthy baby soon!

I am 32 weeks now. Although I am still ok with being pregnant- now that its getting hot, I'm ready to be done. however, I am enjoying our simple life with our son, before baby #2 comes and changes all that. So while I am ready for it to be over, I am enjoy my freedom these last few weeks while I have theme.

Baby 1 was 36 weeks
Baby 2 was 37 weeks
Baby 3 was 39 weeks... so each of my babies waited longer for each one, lol.

I enjoyed the rasberry tea leaf as well. It is supposed to help the uterus to work stronger, not put you into labor.

Good luck and congrats!

I hear ya. I am almost 36 weeks with my second baby and I have no idea how I am going to get any bigger and still function. I'm trying to stay positive about it because it has been a healthy pregnancy so far. But I definitely feel the same as you... hungry all the time, bigger by the day, more tired, so much more discomfort, etc. I'm sorry I can't help with wive's tales. I can really only commiserate with you. I did walk around a mall a lot at the end of my pregnancy with my first, and that seemed to help the baby "drop" and seemed to help bring on some contractions. Good luck and hang in there!

I totally understand, except for me it was my third! My babies each came earlier. I was scheduled for each, trying to beat labor coming, but was in labor with each. 1 was at 37 w 6 d, 2 was less than 37 w 4 d (I never knew my due date with him due to a lot of complications -- just that he didn't make it that 4th day they wanted), 3 was at barely 38, but would have been born that day, by the doctors figures and how my labor was going. Again didn't know an exact due date since she was scheduled.

And you're right. A healthy baby is the most important, but sometimes getting there seems like an impossible task! Hang in there! You'll look back on this time fondly someday. Really. :)

Girl, I am WITH YOU!!! My due date is June 17, and I have felt the same way you have with this, my second pregnancy. At the same time, I don't want to rush it - I want everything developed and ready when it finally comes. And, my family won't be here to help for another 10 days... so I am trying to be patient....
But I am so with you. I just want you to know that I had a harder, though totally healthy pregnancy this time too, I am bigger - like nothing maternity even covers my belly at this point, and I am so tired... tired tired tired!! (And all the complaining and no patience that tired brings with it)
So, if it helps, just know, I am in the same boat, I get your feelings, and it will come soon enough!!
The first time around I took some herb - Blue Cohash or something like that. I was 2 weeks late. It's supposed to get the contractions strated though. You might do a google search on this woman Suzan Weed - she does a lot of safe herbal remedies for things.
Take Care and Good Luck!!

You poor mommy! I hope you find a way to make the time go quicker.
My first was born a week early. My second was induced (they just broke my water) the day before his due date. Those last few weeks are SO LONG!! No fun.
My sister in-law is a massage therapist. They are not allowed to massage a pregnant woman's feet (the arches especially) until after a certain point in pregnancy because the uterus responds to it. Put your sweetheart to work! It's worth a shot.
Good luck!

You poor thing! I know how miserable that is! Every day after 36 weeks feels like a week! My first was born at 39 weeks (water broke spontaneously) had pitocin to get things going after that. My second was born at 37 weeks. I begged for an induction, but the doctor said no. She gave me a "rough" pelvic exam in which I fully believe she stripped my membranes. I started contracting about 2 minutes after walking out of her office and my water broke that night at 10:00 PM. My 3rd baby was born at 38 weeks. I requested to have my membranes stripped, and it felt just like what the "exam" felt like with my second. I went into sudden, hard labor at 2:00 AM and barely made it to the hospital before he was born. So, if you are desperate and prepared to possibly go into hard labor quickly, then ask for your membranes to be stripped. It usually works. Good luck! Congrats!

I am 35 weeks, and if our house was ready, I would so be done with this pregnancy. I'm hoping to go longer than my first (38 weeks with twins). I'm scheduled for my c-section at 39 weeks, so I don't count that last week. I don't think previous pregnancies have a bearing on how long this one is. My mom had two full term babies then had me at 32.5 weeks. Good luck and hang in there! This pregnancy will be over before you know it.

first baby 29 weeks second baby 36 weeks (with medical intervention!). In college there were a bunch of hilly back roads that pregnant women swore by cruising over for 1/2 day and they'd go into labor. I'd go for the mexican food though! mmmm!

My daughter was born after a brisk 3mile hike at my favorite lake. Could be coincidence (I did walk a lot during my pregnancy) - but I guess it's worth a try :). They do simply come when they are ready... just hang in there.

I laughed out loud when I read this, because I remember that "done" feeling sooo well. There are a few ways to help bring on labor, but as my doc told me, if the baby isn't ready to go yet, they won't work. They can, however, be a little "jump start." The ones that, according to my doc, actually have some basis in fact, and pose no risk -

1. Walk. A lot.
2. Go to a massage therapist who is skilled in working with expectant moms (she/he should have a massage table that adapts to accommodate your tummy). There are certain pressure points that can help get labor started. Normally, massage therapists avoid those, but with your doctor or midwife's permission, they will target them instead. Even if it doesn't work, you'll get a nice massage out of the deal. What's not to like?
3. Make love. Evidently it releases chemicals into your bloodstream that can help get baby moving.

Good luck!

I am hoping to go a little early, I was 6 days early with my son, and will be thrilled for that to happen again. It is just so hot and I have PUPPPS, so I am extra miserable. :)

I had my second baby at 40w 6d. I went into labor the morning I was to be induced. I was fine up until my due date. Physically I felt fine, but mentally I was super annoyed. My first son I was 39w 5d.

I walked miles and miles, ate spicy food and nothing but the threat of induction worked.

Hang in there and real soon you will be holding your baby and typing with one hand :)
