I am expecting the second baby and my daughter is 6 1/2 yesr old. She arrived two weeks early and I have been warned this will come early too!! A boy this time.

What is your experience was second one an 'earlier' arrival than the first one too and how early.

My due date is in 11 weeks - so I am thinking I will have him at 9 weeks, can he be eralier?

** an FYI - Baby does measure two weeks ahead in US and our doc said it will be early based on progress.

Thanks!
V.

My first was born on his due date (induction). My second, my doctor told me for almost a month that he just knew he wasn't going to see me back in the next week, and I was almost a week late with him. There really are no guarantees, and I don't think that one delivery is going to necessarily dictate the timing of others.

My first were born 6 weeks early. My next was 9 yrs later and was a full week late. My son, 3 1/2 yrs later, was 9 days early due to low fluid. If everything had been fine otherwise, he probably would have been right around the due date.

A friend of mine has 3. The first born 2 weeks early, the 2nd almost a week late, and the 3rd decided she would come out a little past a week late. They had scheduled a c-section at her appt and she went into labor that night. They are all 2 yrs apart. You just never know what will happen.

I think every pregnancy and delivery is different.
My first was on time and text book perfect. My second was born at 34 weeks. I think that there are things that can contribute to the baby being early, but not necessarily because the first one did.

Good luck!

My 2nd was a week "early". My first was 10 days past due date.
Take what you will from that.

My first was born at exactly 38 weeks and my second (three years later) was born at 37 weeks & 3 days. For some reason, I just KNEW that my second would be early like my first was...best of luck to you!

I can't imagine why #2 would be early, just because the first one was. Did your doctor say that #2 will also come early, or is this just friends or family suggesting it?

My older sister came 2 weeks early. I came a few days late. My youngest brother was 2 weeks late.

Second was a week late, and maybe would have been 2 weeks late. I was induced once the due date passed.

Good luck with #2!

Mine tend to be close to 10 lbs, and I'm small. None have been early, but I don't want them 2 weeks late! :)

My kids were all just a big late. The second was just as late as the first, same with the third and fourth.

My first was a fairly easy pregnancy but 6 weeks early and stayed 14 days in the NICU. My second was a little harder pregnancy, 2 1/2 weeks early, and SUPER healthy. He scored 9 of 10 on the apgar test, and we were told that was ONLY because it was hospital policy to never score anyone a 10. Don't worry mom. Just take care of yourself, do as your doctor says, and enjoy your pregnancy.

the first coming early affects the 2nd only if the same/similar conditions are present.

I was a little early, my younger sis late.

My older son was 1 week late, my daughter about the same, & my younger son 1 day late.

My SIL delivered a little late with her 1st, & then 9 weeks early for her 2nd.

A close friend delivered 9 weeks early with her 1st, & then delivered the 2nd at...hmm, about 7 weeks early.

Lots of variations from child to child...& from family to family. Just pray for healthy!

It is not uncommon for a woman to deliver her babies around the same gestation, or possibly just a little earlier with subsequent pregnancies, (assuming a natural start to labor with no need for medical intervention/induction). But anything can happen. My 4 came at 40 weeks, 39 6/7 weeks, 39 2/7 weeks, and 38 weeks. That last one through me for a loop, I thought I had another week at least. All of my labors started on their own. But my SIL had her first two at 39 weeks and her third came at 40 1/7. That last week of waiting seemed like an eternity to her since she expected to deliver at 39 weeks again, so don't get too set on when you think it will happen. Plus, if your first was two weeks early you really don't want the second coming much before that, they need to be fully cooked :) Best of luck in your remaining trimester.

Warned by who? Your doctor? Is there a medical reason that your daughter came early? If not then there's really no way to know for sure.

Each pregnancy/delivery of mine was different. First child, the doc said he'd prob have to induce me because I wasn't showing any "signs" towards labor. Baby came 4 days before my due date. Second child was over a week late and I had to be induced. Third child I barely made it to the hospital in time and he was over week early.

Hope all goes well your last 11 weeks! Congrats on your little one!!!

All of mine were early:

#1 39 weeks
#2 37 weeks
#3 38 weeks

I thought #3 would be at least 37 weeks or earlier, especially since I started having pre-term labor at 32 weeks and have to have medicine to stop the labor. To my utter surprise, once I got to be around 36 wks. 5 days, the contractions settled down and I had him at exactly 38 weeks.

You never know!
