We have a 9 Month old daughter. She takes 2 naps one morning and one afternoon. What kind of family activites do you all do? I kinda feel like we are in a rut and don't do much. We take her swimming, we have people over, go out to dinner, but I feel like we should be doing more. Any suggestions?

So What Happened?

Thanks for all the great advice! I think the Gymboree Idea is just what I was looking for I didn't know they did them at such a young age. But there are not with in 25 miles of me. So I will continue to look around Mansfield/Arlington for things to do. I have taken her to the Parks Mall to play. I work full time so its really just weekends since she goes to bed so early during the week.

Don't look at the child like she is an age, all kids like the same activities not matter how old. It all stimulates their minds. Zoos, water parks, trips to the park, Dallas aquarium, gym classes. My neice started gymnastics when she was 3-mths old. Do art projects, painting shaving cream, etc. There are also Mommy and Me play dates that you can go to. Most the malls also have play centers that is the child is crawilng they would love!!!Get together with friends that have kids. My daughter is 20 months and one of my best friends has a 6 month old, My daughter entertains her adn keeps her laughing and playing:) Good luck

Granted my baby is only 4 months and things may change, but we have changed very little of our going and doing since she arrived. I just adapt and prepare a little more. We go to the movies. What I do with that is go during the week to the first showing and I don't go when the movie is newly out, so usually a small audience with other moms with small children (they are more understanding), we of course, go swimming, to dinner, biking (you can buy a child seat for your bike and safety gear for your baby), I have a sling I use when we go hiking. We have been camping (in a camper) with her. We do most everything I just plan so I have enough premade bottles and food for her and I take along little toys to amuse her with. I have a great stroller that works wonderful for the zoo or shopping or anywhere that requires alot of walking. Just think of the things you did prior and try to adapt. We have been limited on taking the boat out this summer, but only because our canopy needs to be repaired and I don't have any shade for the baby who can't wear sunscreen yet. You would be very surprised at all the baby stuff they have that makes it pretty easy to take your baby most everywhere.

I'm a stay at home mom of a 14 month old and although this is not say a "family" outing I started weekly "Mommy and Me" classes at Little Gym and she loves it. It's great interaction with other kids her age and it's a nice outing for us during the week (although they have weekend classes as well). We do a lot of blow up pool in the backyard, friends pools, parks etc. too. I think that's really all the entertainment they need at that age. Hope this helps!

The Fort Worth zoo is great!! (Dallas zoo is ok) If you are a stay at home mom join the stay at home mom's group. In Richardson it is great once a month everyone gets together for there monthly meeting. There are weekly age appropriate playdates and weekly lunches. There is a mom's night out once a month. It is not only great for you to get out of the house, but also good for your child to interact socially. If you need more info give me a call, ###-###-####.

Hi, we like to go to the Ft. Worth Museum of Science and History. There is a lot of action and colorful stuff going on and it would be very stimulating for an infant. Also, there is the River Legacy Living Science Center (admission is only $2 per person). If you have a baby backpack, it might excite the baby to go on hikes in the woods with you.

For day-time fun we go to the library. The Denton library system has a great story time schedule and other activities that get us out of the house. For family fun when Daddy is home (after work and on weekends), something as simple as a trip to Home Depot can be fun. Play areas at the mall are fun. Also, Barnes & Noble has a Thomas the Train table that kids like to play with.

My son's schedule was like that. Don't worry, you're not alone. I felt like that, too. My son is 2 1/2, and now he barely sleeps. Spend time with your husband alone as much as you can during her naps now because chances are she'll be changing her schedule in a few months down to 1 nap. I also got together with other mothers at least once or twice a week in their homes. I also took my son to Gymboree classes and GymKids. Maybe that's something you can do. I also took him to the free library class.

My son is a few days shy of 9 months old and we don't do much else either! Especially with it being so hot. I have taken him to the park in the evening and let him swing, but he cried! Probably just take some getting used to. We have friends over for dinner, go out to dinner, go swimming, and take drives in the country. Not much else to do. I am thinking in the fall, it might be better. Then maybe you could go to the pumpkin patch, the zoo, festivals, etc. Don't feel like you aren't doing much because we don't either.

With our 10 month old daughter we visit Bass Pro Shops and Cabelas to look at all of the fish, dad especially loves this. Pet stores are good place to go also to see the dogs and cats. We have a park near our house and when there's no one there in the early evenings I let her play on some of the stuff. Mainly there's one area that she can crawl around, stand at the bars and go up the steps while we hold onto her. She thinks she's hot stuff when she does this. We'll also take her down the slide a few times. Gymboree is good or another idea is Kindermusik music classes. I'm not sure where you live but at the Flower Mound library on Monday and Tuesday they have Mother Goose time where we read a book and sing songs. Just being with you and the family is a wonderful activity so even if you just go sit in the gazebo at Southlake Town Square (not sure if you live near that or not) would be great. Every few months we go to the Gaylord Hotel to walk around and see what they have going on. It's air conditioned and we all get something new to see.
