Ok moms, my weight is just slowing going up. I am 42, not active and love the taste of food. I have tried many things to lose weight, but i just don't give it enough time to work or just get bored because the scale isn't going down fast enough! LOL! Ok, seriously, I am looking into doing the WW on my own. I have the Complete Food Comparison 2009. I have the calculator and I would like to purchase my food at the grocery store. I need encouragement. I know this will probably be a 5 month plan. I don't want to stop or cheat because there is a family gathering or a party or whatnot. I would like to hear how you lost your weight using WW and how long it took you. Your "ah-ha" moment etc.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you everyone for taking the time to reply. I am going to start after Thanksgiving to give myself ahead start before January. I was going to do the simple way of eating the prepackaged frozen WW food at the supermarket, and watch my points. If anyone thinks that is not a good idea please let me know. I really don't want to go in and weigh in each week.

I started WW at the end of Jan. I lost 32 lbs by the end of May . I LOVE WW!!! If you exercise you will lose more fast...... Also stick with the points, try not to use your extra points..my girlfriend and I found if you use them that also slows down the weight loss....you will still lose but lose a lot slower. Try and remember that some weeks will be better then others, just don't give up!!! I eat better now because of being on WW...you can eat what you want you just have to decide if using the points is worth it. These two websites saved me...they are WW blog websites....skinnytaste.com and emilybites.com. Their recipes are delish, my husband even likes the recipes...I still cook from them and have been on maintenance since May. Good luck!!! I can't stress how important not cheating with the points is!!!

hello!
we LOVE ww! my hubby and i started at the ww meeting on south green oaks in january of this year & at our last meeting, i'm down 85 pounds! it totally works - if you stick with it. the meetings are great because you'll see others who are going through what you're going through, you'll hear great ideas, & get resources from ww (including ideas for how to handle holiday eating without completely throwing the healthy choices out the window!). i highly recommend at least trying the meetings instead of going it on your own. :)

You'll lose about 1-2 lbs. a week but you need to exercise to speed that up. You can do it!!! Good luck! BTW, find an accountability partner, that helps alot as well.

The WW program changed last year, it's now Point Plus. It's similar to the old program but the way you calucate points has changed. The old Points program will still work just fine, but don't try to combine the two. The points on the WW products is now the Points Plus not the old program.
It's really hard to stay on target doing it on your own. You might think about going to a meeting for the support and accountability.
I don't work for WW, I'm just a member and have been at my goal weight for 4 years. I go to my meeting every week.

I am excited about our new weight control solution products our company is about to launch. There is a pre launch order on cyber Monday, the Monday after Thanksgiving, and the products will be in your home the third week in December for those already having an account with the company. (No entry fee) There is a 100% money back guarantee. How great is that! It has a fast start, you eat the foods you enjoy, and there is a success coach who will be emailing or texting you 5/6 times a day telling you day by day what to do. If interested, I can get your order placed when my husband and I place ours. I need to lose some inches around the middle and a few pounds. Marla, my friend in Normal, IL, lost four pant sizes in 9 weeks of the 12 week program. A doctor lost 31 lbs and 9 inches without exercise. Michelle in Denver, another member of the focus group, lost her after baby inches and 24 lbs. She is on day 76 of the 90 day program. If interested, let me know and I can connect you to a ten minute recorded call for more information. My number is on my website. http://annnoble.vemma.com/ There is not any information about it on the website, but there will be at the launch in January. I am very excited about the prelauch chance to order and start on it before the first of the year. If you have interested friends, you will be on the ground floor of this and get a plan B income opportunity. See if it is a fit. I am so excited from what I have learned about it so far!

Weight Watchers is a good plan, but I tried it and I got bored with it really quick. The only way that I was able to lose weight and at a good pace and keep it off is by eating about 6 to 7 small meals a day. When I first started with it, I counted my calories and made sure I was staying under my allotted amount of calories per day. You can look online to see how many calories you should be eating a day based on your height and weight and activity level. In total, over the course of a year and a half, I have lost 116 lbs. If you ask any doctor, he or she will tell you that this is the best way to lose weight. Good luck!! :)

Hi M.!
I'm currently in the HcG Diet and I love it! You see results immediately. In a week you are able to loose like 7 lbs. Google HcG diet and you will learn more. You will need to follow a 500 cal + the drops a day. Trust me you will NOT get hungry because of the drops. This diet is a success because the HcG hormone helps you to reshape your body by loosing the fat on difficult areas like arms, belly, thigh, etc. My suggestion, do the HcG diet first loose the pounds you want and then you can go to WW to learn how to eat healthy and stay healthy. Doing any regular diet will make you to loose like 1 or 2 lbs a week with HcG you will loose like .5-1lbs a day! I get mad at my husband because he usually loose 1-2 lbs a day! grrr and he usually don't follow the diet as it should be and I do I don't loose as much as him!! grrr

I love WW - it really became a way of life for me vs a diet. I never used the extra points, I was pretty strick with myself. I did eat whatever I wanted, for example if someone brought donuts to work (I love, love donuts), by the time I calculated the points for a whole donut, then considered half and a quarter - that wasn't worth the points to me!! And passing up a donuts feels so, so good. When we did eat out (I'm not convinced eating out is the points you think it is), I calculate the best I can (usually chicken breast and veggies) and assume any points I'm not aware of are used in the extra points I don't use anyway. I also think if I go to someone's house, I think those extra points will help there - but I never allow myself to go crazy with it. There's always an "excuse" to cheat so the sooner you get that in your head and stick with it the better off you are and you will feel great, and every time you don't "cheat", you feel stronger. I used WW for years, I lost 60 pounds on it about 6 years ago. I had gained 10 pounds about a year or so ago because I lost focus . . . I started WW again and couldn't lose, i was getting really frustrated when I found out I was preggo. My baby is 4 weeks now, and I'm getting ready to join WW on line for a few months to lose 22 pounds. I would suggest joining online to just get started. They have a great tool you can put recipes in to calculate your points as well as recipes and stuff out there. I havent totally checked out the new point system yet - but my "beef" if you will with the old system was that protein was so many points compared to a bag of 94% FF popcorn. I did use my points for protein and had protein for snacks and I lost quickly and I did exercise. I can't stress enough to snack!! even if you aren't hungry and make it protein - cottage cheese, string cheese stick, almonds, etc. It doens't have to be a big snack, just soemthing to keep your matabolism going. Good luck - PM me if you have questions, I'd love to hear how its going for you.

Before you begin any weight loss plan, go to your doctor and have blood tests to check everything out---especially your thyroid. This has a HUGE effect on your weight, and if you are deficient, you may not be able to lose many pounds. Just a note from experience.

I love WW!!!! Down 17 lbs so far!!! Yippee....If you want to try it online go for it...However, your 2009 books are outdated since they went to the points plus program. I know about the slow weight loss and how that goes but please be encouraged....I could barely wear a pair of pants two months even with Spanx and now they are baggy in the hips....So encouraged by this.

I know people who have done Weight Watchers and been very successful. I did not use Weight Watchers myself. I lost my weight with Team Beachbody. You incorporate exercise and diet together and you get accountability from your Coach. With any plan it is important to have support and accountability to stay on track. The other important this is to establish your WHY. If you don't have the right WHY or if it isn't big enough then you will fall off track very easily. I lost 30 lbs last year went through the holidays and on a lovely vacation this past summer and didn't put any weight back on...in fact I kept losing. I am looking forward to another holiday season of not putting on the typical 5 lbs. If you want to know more about Beachbody let me know. Oh yea you didn't say how much you had to lose, but it is a process and setting short term goals can help you be more successful in the long run.

love weight watchers, but there is something to say about going to weigh in every week. At home would not work for me. no accountability. Sorry gurl, u gotta move your body. At your age, metabolism slows down and you will get hardly any food to eat unless u exercise. Get a tape for home, or just walk. You need to read Oxygen magazine.

Good Luck!

You can do it! Definitely sign up for at least the base level plan that gives you access to the online tools. I had never tried a diet plan before, but had tried to watch my weight by eating right. However, that meant I felt guilty whenever I ate a sweet or ate french fries. I felt bad about myself for eating.

I couldnt get rid of my baby weight so I did weight watchers. I loved that as long as I planned what I ate, I could eat any kind of food I wanted. You wont have to cheat (and feel guilty) for the party or family gathering, just budget your points so you can eat what you want at the party.

I lost @4-5 pounds the first week, and then 1-2 a week after, until I got down to my pre baby weight.

I do recommend spending the money to join, though. If you can afford it, pay so that you can go to the meetings. Everyone is so positive and supportive! It makes a huge difference.
