Hi J.,

I have not tried Weight Watchers but know several women who have. It works but the weightloss is slower then some other programs. I believe 1-2 lbs. per week or less is what I hear the most.

If you are interested in finding out about another program that follows medical protocols let me know. The weight loss is 2-5 lbs. per week for women backed by medical research. I am a health coach for the program and lost 28 lbs. on the program myself last year.

Thanks,

I did it twice, once before getting pregnant, and then again after. Both times I lost 30-40 lbs in less than 6 months.
There are 2 ways to do WW. The first is to follow your points, but eat what ever you want. You'll stay hungry and loose weight, but not super fast.
The second is to change the food you eat. Stick to the points, don't use all 35 extra every week (but use some), eat lots of foods low in fat and high in fiber. You'll stay full, loose it fast and be all around healthier.
I watched a lot of people go through the program and either really succeed or drop out. The successful people changed their lives. The others just ate less of the stuff they were already eating and ended up giving up.
Good luck to you. I know how hard it is to eat well and exercise with 2 toddlers, but if you stick to it, they'll join in and not even know they're eating healthy and helping you out.

Hi J.,
Yes, I tried WW after my 3rd child when I had over 30 lbs to lose. It took me 5 weeks to lose 10 lbs and I was religious about the points. I would say to try it, but keep in mind that so many issues surrounding losing weight after having a baby is about hormonal imbalance! I had the privilege of coming across a program when I lived overseas that worked like a dream! I lost my extra 20 lbs in 6 weeks and was such a believer that I decided to bring the Program to the US. So, that is what I have done. I am now the proud owner and director of TLC Wellbeing Center which offers this World leading Program. These are personalized programs that realign your hormones and get your body back to its optimum. It will also reverse Diabetes type 2 and correct many health issues. It has even shown great results with infertility. I wish you all the best whatever you decide. I am just wanting to educate people that losing weight is much more complex than calories in versus calories out. I have a great offer on this site. I think WW is wonderful! I have many friends who have lost lots of weight (80 and 100 lbs) on it and some have kept it off and some haven't. Like anything else, if you quit exercising and start eating everything in sight, you'll gain weight back! WW is VERY healthy though, and you can either do points or do the core plan where you do get to eat carbs but you have a core list of foods and you can eat as much of those as you want without having to count points. I lost 52 lbs on WW after my first baby, and I'm back after my second and losing weight. If you do the program and really change your eating and exercise habits, you will be successful!

I tried the plan about three years ago. I hear they have a momentum plan but don't know how it is different. I lost weight. I actually lost about 50 lbs in 6 months. I have gained it back but I am sure that is because I stopped the program, mom died, got depressed and ate whatever. It takes commitment. On the old program you had to calculate points for everything and then keep track of points. It was easy but time consuming. It was easy though. I think that it is probably a great program for people that need to lose less than 50 lbs. I need to loss a lot more than that and have not decided that I have the commitment to go back. good luck.

Weight Watchers is wonderful. I lost about 30lbs of baby weight after having my first child in about 6 months. I am in health care and do recomend weight watchers to anyone, it is a very safe diet program that does work. Unlike these loose weight quick diets like the Adkins. Stay away from this diet, very unhealthy for your heart and heart disease is the number one killer among women.
Good luck, weight watchers is worth every penny.

Hi,

I am a firm believer of WW. I joined in June of 2005. The total amount I lost was 50 pounds. I have been able to keep all but about 10 pounds of it off. WW is not a "diet" -- they teach you a way of life that you can continue as long as you live. They don't tell you that can't have something -- they show you ways you can have what you want and still lose weight or maintain a healthy weight.

Right now WW is having free registration. You can also sit in on a meeting for free. You just can't get the weekly booklets and stuff until you join.

Weight Watchers worked wonders for me. When I delivered my first child I weighed in at 246 lbs. After two years I was still over 200 so I joined a group that some of my co-workers were in. We started in Sept. 2007 and by June 2008 I had lost 28 lbs and was down to 179 lbs. The program was really easy and it taught me how to eat healthy when I was on the run. I am now pregnant with my second child due in March and as soon as I am cleared from the doctor I will be getting back on the program. I have always been a little heavy, but the support from the other people that were involved kept me on track and we even did workouts together. Of course WW is not a quick fix, but I saw slow progress that I was able to keep off until I found out I was pregnant. If you go for it, good luck. I still carry my progress chart with me as a constant reminder.

I wish I could say I lost once with WW and kept it off, but that's not the case. I can say, however, that I lost 30 lbs. with WW, and 15 lbs. again a few years later. I am back on it to take off 10 lbs. and it's working! The program is healthy, easy to use, and doesn't require any special foods or liquids. Good luck!

I agree with all the other posters. WW is great. I've been doing the program for about 6 months and have lost 30 lbs. It's not a diet but a lifestyle change. While doing the program I've never felt like I was depriving myself of anything. Meetings are definitely the key to success. They keep you motivated and it's nice to have a support network to keep you going.

I think that they have a great program. I currently use the $39 amonth pass - which enables you to go to as manymeetings a week as you want. It also provides online access. Which has great tools for recording what you eat and how much you exercise. It also has great recipes and communities to keep you motivated. I knw that there is also an online only membership. I have used this before and found it very useful. I think that the program is very real. You can prepare and eat the same foods as your family. It is all about portion control. I have lost about 40 lbs using ww and exercise. I would suggest you try it! Good Luck!

I tried WW ~ loved it! I lost 25 pounds with WW and have maintained for 1 yr. Their plan helped me learn how to correctly eat. I have never been "over" weight. I learned how to look at food in a different way.

Tip: make a goal that is reachable. Once you get to your goal weight and maintain it for 6 weeks ~ you go "lifetime" and you do not have to pay for the meetings!! As a lifetime member, you only need to weigh in once a month to maintain that status. Highly recommend the meetings. That is where you hear encouragement, support, ideas, etc. It was very helpful to me!

I did WW a couple of years ago and lost 37 pounds in about 8 mos. I totally recommend it. The reason it worked for me is because I had the accountability of weighing in front of someone. I quit going when I was 6 pounds away from my goal which was stupid, but I had lost my job and we needed to save money. Long story short, I gained it all back plus 7 pounds. It SUCKS!! But WW does work, and it's a healthy way to lose weight.
