My husband has a work trip planned to Vegas and would like for us to go along with him. I was wondering if anyone has any advice on traveling to Vegas with a 14 month old? We are staying at the Marriot resort and I'm sure there is a lot we can do there. However, we are concerned about the smoke issue and worried that we will get there and be restricted with what we can do with our daughter. Any advice or recommendations of things to do there would be appreciated very much!

Hi M.,
I have been to Vegas plenty of times. I have three children and we usually drive up there and stay at my grandfathers. You can really only smoke in the casino areas which children are not allowed in. Some casino's have a day care center so that you can leave them there and they have activities for them to do with other children for a couple of hours. If you are going to go swimming you may want to do it in the evening time when it is warm enough to swim but not hot enough to burn you. I am not sure when you are going. I think you can go to any casino and they will give you a brochure and that will give you some ideas. Hope you have a safe and wonderful trip.

HI M. ~ I too travel to Vegas with my husband and youngest daughter. We have a WONDERFUL time each time we go. At each “hotel/casino” we have found MANY things to do <and FREE, which are the BEST ones!!>. Each one offers something different; kids are not allowed in the casinos yet you can walk through every hotel and find LOTS of things to do and see!!.
<Just a couple> We did the ‘flamingo park’ and watched the fish, waterfalls, live flamingos and ducks at the Flamingo Casino, we did the lions at the MGM, we watched the fountains for hours <and hours!!> at the Bellagio, which also was a WONDERFUL art display as you walk in AND a chocolate fountain to watch the chocolate pour through, and a mini mall with shops in the hotel.
The best thing to do is go online and look things up, like: http://www.vegas.com/attractions/kids.html http://www.vegas.com/attractions/ We did not get a car – so we walked the ‘new’ strip and did A LOT of walking. On the new strip, there is the ‘mini’ mall in the Aladdin Casino, which was great, for a rainy day. We did the MnM store and things on that end. When we did take a cab to the ‘old’ strip, getting to see the ‘movie’ on the ceiling every ½ hour or hour was great as well as go see the golden nugget and such. Just remember to take it easy, keep your stroller ‘light’, bring munchies and snacks with lots of water. If you want more specific info – just email me. ENJOY your holiday!!

I was there a few months ago with out kids (3 and 2). Like another poster said, basically the areas where smoking is allowed you cannot go with your child anyway, like the casino areas. We had a lot of fun because there is just a lot to do. I am not sure where the Marriot resort is but we stayed on the strip and walking up and down the strip there is a ton for the kids to look at (Treasure Island has a great show). We had a great time with our kids there. Have fun.
