Trash Cans with Luxury Price Tags.

Ladies:

When did trash cans get to be luxury items with luxury price tags? The ones at BB&B go for $60+ dollars and require batteries. Outrageous!!!! At that price, the can had better have a feature to take the trash out too.

I'm looking for an inexpensive ($30 or less), under sink trash can. The compactor in our building can't accommodate regular kitchen sized trash bags. We are limited to small cans (no bigger than a grocery bag in volume).

We'd prefer something with a lid, and something which can be lifted out and given a good scrub every so often.

Thanks for your help.

What can I do next?

I'd just go look at Wal Mart &/or Target & see what they have.

Here's a couple from Wal Mart's site:

I have some like this that I can fit a grocery bag on, but no lid:

We were looking for a new 13-gal can for our kitchen not too long ago, I too was shocked at how much they cost! I'm like geesh I'm putting TRASH in it! lol We haven't had to replace ours yet (spring had popped out, but I got it back in lol). But I was looking at an iTouchless one that's $50. That is actually less than the simple plastic ones to replace what we already have!!

I bought an undersink recycling bin that was actually a trashcan from Ikea. It was super cheap. I would also try Wal-Mart.

I have a small under sink area too. I found out the grocery store near us decorates cakes in house. The icing comes in plastic buckets. The large plastic bucket fits under our sink perfectly. AND they're FREE. When I want one, I go in around 8 am and simply ask for one or two. If they have one they'll wash it out and give it to me. I am always polite and tell them I'd be glad to save them the trouble of washing it out, but they always wash them.

I grow my own blackberries and have made blackberry tarts and taken them into the bakery workers as a thanks and they are always grateful. Some stores charge for the buckets, but the highest price I've seen is only $1. But I like free better.

Hope that helps. Good luck to you and yours.

I completely relate to your frustration! I finally found mine (fits a supermarket bag an has a lid) at The Container Store. Here is a link to the model i got but they have many more that might fit your budget. They also have the super expensive ones...
