Training Pants

Hi Ladies! Does anyone know where I can buy training pants? Not pull-ups, but the regular old-fashioned thick training pants.

My daughter uses pull ups like a diaper -- I tried just putting her in panties, but am not looking forward to carpet/furniture cleaning after accidents. I've looked at walmart & target and have had no luck. Any suggestions?

TIA

So What Happened?

Thanks for all your responses moms. I checked my local walmarts and targets and didn't have any luck there, so I ended up buying them off Amazon.com. I found 3 packs of Gerber for 5.99. Thanks so much!

Target & Walmart carry Gerber brand, but I'd recommend buying better quality ones online. I found the Gerber ones to be very flimsy. Last year I bought some excellent ones from http://www.pottyscotty.com. It's a company here in TX. They have girl ones too called Potty Patty (I think). Anyway, they really hold up wash after wash.

Hi B., I first bought for my son (now 3) the regular training pants from Gerber you can find on Target and also, I was told, Walmart. I wasn't crazy about it... so I started looking on internet. I found a website www.pottytrainingconcepts.com with a lot of information and also the best training pants I have ever found. They are the Potty Scotty (for boys) and Potty Patty (for girls). They are white with either blue (boys) or red/pink (for girls). They seam really comfortable and they are thicker than the Gerber.
Well, I hope I could help you. Good luck!

I found them at J.C. Penny (granted that was 5 1/2 years ago) in the store. They may also have them online with JCP. Good luck...I had the same problem with my daughter. I think the training pants (cloth ones) are a great way to go. Buy a lot of them because you may be washing them quite a bit in the beginning. :o)

It may be icky, and it may create more work, but skipping the training pants makes the whole process go faster. Even in training pants they feel like they can go in their pants because it's so thick. Regular underwear is thin enough to really get wet and uncomfortable.

My son was trained in seven days.

They have them at Walmart, but they are hanging on the bottom of one of the shelves back in the baby and toddler section. I overlooked them many times but finally found them. They hang on the very bottom 3 in a pack, you have one choice in pink and one choice in blue. You can also find them at Babies R Us. They are hard to find at both places, Babies R Us has been sold out a couple of times when I have gone. Usually if you ask someone there they can help you find them, at Walmart good luck finding someone to help you.

Don't know about training pants, but I have another "secret." Sweatpants! Borrow sweatpants from all your friends, and then the leaks pretty much take care of themselves. You still have to clean up a child, but there's a lot less floor cleaning to do. This saved me when my last one was training. It took less than a week of sweatpants.

At my local Super Walmart, they still sell the old-school Gerber training pants (underwear with six layers of cloth at the crotch) and the old-school vinyl pullup covers, both are about $5 for a 3pack in the baby section. I know Justin is a bit of a drive, but there are also two cloth diaper stores in DFW that sell a variety of cloth training pants. One is Bree's Bums in Richardson, and the other is Babies Bottoms and More in Farmer's Branch - and both have online stores too so you can see pictures before you drive. These training pants are more expensive, but are more comfortable and have the cloth and the waterproofing all in one piece. What I did was buy three pairs of the training pants and several packages of the Gerbers. We go through the more expensive ones first, then switch to the Gerbers for the rest of the day with polyester sweatpants to limit the seepage. I still use Pull-Ups at night.

I don't know where you can find "training pants", but my daughter did the same thing. So what I did was put regular panties on her and I put those "plastic panties" over them. You can buy them anywhere. This way, the liquid doesn't soak into the material, so it is more uncomfortable for her, and you still protect the carpet, furniture and so on. I hope this helps!

I know that you have purchased training pants now and good luck. However, if you need something in a pinch and still have some of those pull-ups left, I read this in a magazine article.

Use regular panties on your daughter and put a pull-up over top. The panties will give her the an incomfortable feeling when they are wet, but he pull-up will protect your furniture.
