Hi Mom's - my almost 11-month old is having a VERY tough time right now with teething. I think he's cutting at least two, maybe three teeth. I hear some people swear by Hylands Teething Tablets - has anyone tried these? Do you just give them to your child at night or during the day as well? I'd love to hear what people think...thanks!!

I just use the tablets whenever my teething baby fusses badly (and I can't easily console her like usual). It seems to be the right answer every time.

I have used these for both of my sons (3 and 15 months). They are wonderful. Orajel didn't work or any other teething products except for Hylands. I am using them right now on my 15 month old. I use them during the day when he is fussy and biting on things and at night before he goes to bed. He recognizes the bottle now and he just gets up into my lap because I guess he knows that relief is coming. Like one of the other posters said, watch your fingers. Sometimes they take a few seconds to dissolve and I have been bitten on more than one occassion.

Hello,
We have had a lot of luck with these, as well as the calming version that they make. It was easier when she was first cutting teeth (7-8 months) since we could put them in her mouth and they would dissolve. Now that's she's 16 months, she wants to eat them, but if I get it in her mouth and rub it around a little (we put at least 3-4 in at a time), they dissolve quickly. Sometimes it's just enough to distract her and calm her down for a minute. We give them to her whenever she seems most bothered by the teeth, but they seem to work best at night when she's already tired and just needs a little help to get to sleep.
Hope they help you, too!
Jen

I haven't seen anyone else post this trick--I love the tablets as well. I have actually thrown 3-4 in a sippy cup of water. I just watched him to see if he needed more (I started low # and added to water until I could tell it helped.). He loved this because then it lasted longer and if it started wearing off, he would take another few drinks. I have also done this with sore throats--just because it worked.

I use these on my son too. I just take about 3 of them and put them in his mouth while trying to rub them on his gums. Otherwise, he just chewa them up and swallows them quickly. They dissolve really fast. They can't hurt and are worth a shot for your baby. They are safe to give throughout the day. The bottle says you can give them some every few hours I think.

I really loved these. I didn't know about them with my older son, and it made a world of difference with my younger son. They dissolve fast, so try to put them under their tongue. I think the bottle said to put them under their tongue, that is so they get absorbed better into the bloodstream. Those tablets, along with Mortin, were great for teething. I also put a wet washcloth in the refrigerator and let them chew on it throughout the day and that helped.

We use the Hyland's gel from Whole Foods and have alot of success with it. I was worried about the tabs dissolving, or my son spitting them out. I love the gel- really works fast. When I use it at night, he falls asleep within minutes.

Hi L.,

I just responded to someone else about this the other day. I cut and pasted my note to her below.

'I mamasourced about this a while back. A few people recommended Hyland's Teething Tablets (get them at Target). It may be me and my wishes of our 18 month to be pain free, but these seem to be a wonder tablet. They say their teeth start to hurt when they are in bed and have nothing else to keep them busy and they notice the pain. We use these sparingly and they seem to put her right to sleep. I do not use them throughout the day as they say you can on the bottle, just at night.'

Good luck.

They were the only thing that helped our little boy when he was miserable and in pain. You have to kind of rub them in so watch out for biting. That was the only drawback that I can remember. They helped our son fall asleep as well. I highly recommend trying them.

Hyland's worked perfectly for our son. Even Tylenol did nothing for him when he was teething. However, with our daughter (who was a very little baby) even one tablet would keep her awake for hours. She would be happy, just very wakeful. So, I just couldn't use them at sleep times. She is now 13 months and almost 20 pounds and can handle 1 tablet and still sleep. I use the Hylnad's Calms Forte for my son who is now 3 to help calm him for sleep if we've had an exciting day and he's overstimulated (like if we were out up until bedtime or something like that).

I tried the tablets. They worked amazing on my son. It says on the bottle to put them under the tounge... doesn't work trust me, they just spit them out. What you need to do is get that little syringe that comes with like the tylenol, and pull the little white plug out of it. Put 3 tablets in there, put the plug back in, push it all the way down so it looks like your going to crush the tablets, but then suck water in it to fill it all the way up to the top and shake the hell out of it until the tablets dissolve, then squirt it in the babies mouth on both top and bottom gums, and giving tylenol along with it is a good idea. hope i helped.
