there are a lot of books that you can try... the one my son has actually has a phone keypad built into it where he can press the actual numbers & then hear the sirens & thats how he knows he did it right...its better than praticing on the phone... its called what to do in an emergency...there is also a little part where he can fill out his address & phone number...my son knew his full address & phone # when he was 2...all you have to do is practice it everyday...they usually pick it up really quickly...good luck :D

(sorry this won't answer your question, but I had to throw it out there...!) my 2 year old, when she was 1... she taught herself how to dial 911... boy, was that embarassing!!! When the phone rang and it was 911 calling US, we almost died! THey said they were now mandated to have a cop check us out to make sure there wasn't really some emergency situation going on.... a good precaution I'd say, but still it was embarassing, and a waste of taxpayer money to have this cop coming out to us over nothing! We've been extremely careful NOT to let that happen again, needless to say!

I just recently taught my 4 yr old son how to do that. I have a phone that you can dial then press talk, so I just let him practice dialing and told him you do that and then if it is a real emergency you press this button to send it. Every once in a while I quiz him on it...he's gotten good...~R.'

When I can think more on this I will get back to you but I did want to share a quick story about my husband's niece.......

When she was maybe 3 yrs old her father worked 3rd shift, and while it was time for my husbands niece to take her nap during the day her father would catch a quick nap as well. Well this one particular day my BIL told her it was time to go down for her nap..only she didn't want to. My BIL kept telling her she had to go to sleep and then apparently he fell asleep before she picked up the phone to call 911!! The police showed up at the door and she answered it. They asked her why she called 911 and she told them because her daddy wanted her to take a nap and she didn't want to...so again (while chuckling) they asked her why did call 911...and she told them again becuase she didn't wnat to nap and she wanted to call her Uncle to tell her daddy to stop telling her she had to take a nap...her Uncle, (my husband), is a COP!

I guess you really had to be there to hear the story first hand...but i thought it was not only the cutest but probably the funniest thing I ever heard a child do!! Gotta love these kids!!
