Solution to Sweaty Problem?

My DS, who is almost 4, is like his dad body-temperature wise. The both run "hotter" than I do - when I'm chilly, they're comfortable, etc. DS has lightweight waterproof mattress protector on his bed (Target brand) under his sheets and I noticed that his bed is sweaty where he lays. The pillow with the protector does the same thing. This is during the winter when the temp is set so that I'm comfortable with a blanket (so it's not super warm), plus my DS sleeps in a t-shirt or even just underwear and he's comfortable temp-wise. I know it's not from wetting the bed cause took a nap on his mattress and the same thing happened for me.

Any suggestions to combat this? I like the protection, but I also want him to sleep comfortably - cause if he does, so do I !LOL

Thanks~

We ponied up the cash for the mattress protectors that are "celled", which allow air to pass through, but not water. They're terrycloth on one side and rubbbery "stuff" on the other. You can breath through them just fine, and you skin can "breathe" as well, so you don't wake up wet.

Sleeping on a normal waterproof protector even *I* would wake up in sweat, and my son would wake up soaked (sleeps hot like your boys). These ones, however, everyone wakes up dry.

They're expensive as all get out. $150 for my son's double, almost $250 for the king. And worth every penny.

We got them through SleepCountryUSA. I looked online but they don't have an online store anymore it looks like. Perhaps something local to you would have something similar.

I have to put my daughter's under the regular matttress pad. If I just put it under the sheet, she will sweat. It is more work if she does have an accident, but she sleeps better.

It's the water proof mattress cover. We had the same thing with ours son. But once I switched to a cotton pad the problem was resolved. Good luck.

I recently read that night time sweating can be a sign of sleep apnea in children along with bedwetting, sleeping in contorted positions, and most young children do not typically snore another sign is small size or failure to thrive. Just something you may want to look into.
