So What Happened?

OK...my husband decided to have the carpet cleaned professionally to take the worry of removing the silly putty off of us. That didn't work!!! When they left, the silly putty stayed. Hubby went to get the GOO GONE out of the garage to try it....IT WORKED!!! You can't even tell it was there. Thanks ladies though for your suggestions.

My daughter got this silly putty stuck on her hair and after trying almost everything, the ONLY thing that worked was Hand sanitizer - Purell or something.

Try it rubbbing it and letting it sit for few minutes then pulling it out with a cloth.

I just went through this myself after my son put blue glitter silly putty on his carpet. Hand sanitizer worked! Just put a squirt on the spot (after you try and get all you can off) and then rub. It didnt' stain the carpet either.

This might take a bit of time to get out since this is a pretty timely process. Place some ice in a plastic baggie (Ziploc or a sandwich bag). Leave it on there for a minute or long enough to freeze it a bit. Then pick out the hardened silly putty. Continue process until it is removed. The Silly Putty will become softer the more you pick at it and that is the reason you have to repeat the process so many times. Good luck.

I think the best thing to use for something like sillyputty is goopoff. You can find it at just about any store. If that doesnt work than you can have it cut out and patched. My husband has been working with carpet for 30 yrs. and could fixit up for a minimal cost. M. M.

Our DD put purple glitter SP(thanks Grandma) in our new 1wk. old carpet! I freaked and I sure didn't want my hubby to know. We had this stuff called goo-gone from Walmart, worked like a charm. HTH

I'm no expert in the silly putty department, but you might try ice. Freeze it and then see if you can "break it" out of the carpet? Just a suggestion. Let me know if it works! Good luck!
