My baby shower is this weekend for my second child. Do I get the girl who's throwing the shower some sort of gift after it's all over with? I can't remember what I did for my first one. Or do I not do anything, just a nice thank you note to her for everything? By the way, the shower will be at my house. She offered to have it at her house, but I said no I would rather do it at my house, that way I don't have to transport everything back home. I did it that way with my first shower and it worked out great. Plus I wanted everyone to be able to see the baby's room...

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks everyone for your advice. I know she loves to shop, so I think I will get her a gift card to one of her favorite stores. She hates it when people shop for her, I do know that.

I think a gift is always nice and warranted; the extent or the degree of the gift is dependent upon what the hostess contributes to the shower. I hosted a baby shower for a friend of mine just recently, and it was her second kiddo as well. I hosted it at my house, provided food, decoration, entertainment/games with gifts for the winners, and created a blessing ring that included little scrapbook created cards that the guests wrote a prayer/parenting advice in the card.

I love to read and drink chai tea so the mommy to be-deux gave me a gift card to Barnes and Noble. I thought it was wonderful and was very much geared toward me.

Keep in mind the extent of what she contributes and go from there.Or just give her something to show that you appreciate the effort she put forth.

My best...and congratulations!!!

Hi, I gave a personal gift to my friend who threw my baby shower. I went to Things to Remember and they had a pink heart key chain. (By the way she loves pink) and I engraved on it Thanks Kari! with the date of my shower on it and it also had a lil charm on it too where I had her name and her hubbys engraved on it too. So something small or personal is very nice.

Hi there! I always LOVED getting, and then giving, basic things like Bath and Bodyworks soups, lotions, etc. Even the plug in air things are wonderful!

Definietly do a small gift--between $5 and $10. Magnets, bookmarks, or like an earlier post said, bath products work great!!

I am a firm believer that a gift is always a very nice way to go. Just be sure to buy something you know they like or will use. I hate giving gifts if I don't think the people will like or use them what is point right?

I think a gift is a nice way to go. In the past I've done candles, picture frames, holiday centerpieces (I had a shower in the spring and got an Easter vase with flowers for each hostess). Its nice to get something that you know your hostess will like. One of my favorite hostess gifts I received was a gift card to Target...love that store!
