I am having a garage sale and am not sure how much to sell clothing for. I mostly have Carter's brand clothing. The clothing is clean and some of it looks like it has never been worn. Sizes 0-4T in boys. Sizes 0-18mos girls. It didn't sell for $1 a piece last year. What would you pay for a top, pr of pants/shorts, romper, etc? I would like to get something rather than donating it all.
Thank you to everyone who so kindly responded to my request for help. I appreciate your suggested prices as well as other options to making money on unwanted clothing. Since I do not like having garage sales and really dislike bargaining, I decided to go rock bottom on my pricing and it worked. $0.25 for and individual article of clothing and $0.50 for a pair of shoes was a price all of my "customers" liked and told me they appreciated. We were very busy helping everyone and very few people left empty handed. As a matter of fact, there were a lot of people we helped to their car since they bought so much. I know it was a "crazy-low" price but I am happy with the end result...money in my pocket and a lot of empty boxes for garbage day! Thanks again everyone! When my sis had a garage sale for all her little boy clothes she did it $10 for all you could stuff in a jewel bag. That went over VERY well....
i'm surrounded by garage sales so i don't buy for $1 unless its like 5T and up in good shape (hard to find).
.50 each you will sell it all.

I gave up on garage sales for selling kids clothing, and I take it to resale shops instead. Good Cents in Geneva is a great resale shop, and whatever they don't take goes to Once Upon a Child, where I at least get something for it. I just find it less of a hassle than a garage sale, especially when yo can only get 50 cents an item.
.50 to $1.00 except for something special like a little suit or coat. Brands do not matter at a garage sale. On the last day I would hand out bags and charge $3.00 per bag.
In the future, whatever doesn't sell: Try a site called GumdropSwap (http://gumdropswap.com). No need to hold onto all of that stuff. Save a few fave outfits to pass on if next is same sex but get some return value on that money and free up space in your home and your parent's. You can swap from anywhere in the US by sending the clothes your kids outgrow to this kids boutique in CT. It's instant gratification. As long your things are in good condition they don't turn down anything because of brand, size or season. They take everything unlike resale store like Once Upon a Child! They give you points to shop on the website and send the clothes that fit your kids. It's great if you don't have time, patience or know how to do consignment, Ebay, craigslist, tag sale, etc.
I just had a garage sale and I sold my clothes for $1 an outfit. So if there were pants and tops that matched, it was $1, a dress was $1, a sleeper was $1. I sold almost all of the clothes that I had (girl clothes newborn to 12 months). However, I was very picky about what I sold, anything that wasn't in great shape was donated.

At a garage sale, 50 cents is my limit, no matter what brand. I just have that garage sale mentality.
Hi D., I recently started selling my stuff on ebay. I took it to Once Upon A child and they refused all my items, said they were not in good condition. It got me mad because it was all nice stuff, so I started selling on ebay and already made $200 in the last 4 weeks....

We just finished with a neighborhood garage sale. I'd say mark them at .75 cents and take .50 each if need be. This works well, especially if you have volume.
I'd also make sure that you have everything marked. It saves you a lot of time.

No one pays more than $1-2 per item. Have them make an offer so you may get $5.00 for 6 items etc.
