I'm a 30 year old first time mom. My son is 4 1/2 months now. I feel that he needs some more stimulation and that getting out and seeing some other babies would be beneficial both to him and to me. I am breastfeeding and have had some difficulty getting out. This is an issue that I am dealing with. I get nervous about having to feed him in public and nervous that he will start crying and that I won't be able to take care of him like I do at home. I was invited to join a group, but the group consisted of toddlers. Also, since my son is not on a specific schedule it is hard to commit to meeting at a certain time. I am a full time mom now and will not be going back to work, so I would really like to meet some other moms in the area. If there is anyone in the area I my son and I would love to meet you.
The lincoln moms club has lots of members, so there are plenty of other moms with babies. I joined when my 2 were 1 and 2 years it helped so much to make friends and meet people going through all the same emotions. good luck. i think there is a link on the city website

Have you ever heard of MOPs (Mothers of Preschoolers)? When my kids were liitle, groups like these were my life-line. You can go to mops.org to enter your zip-code and find your local group. It's free and they are great to connect with others who have something in common - the kids they love.
Congrats on your little one. It is an exciting, and sometimes scary life change. :) It sounds like you need some support from other moms in the same place you are. When my son was born I started attending the Mothers Support Group put on by Sutter. It is free, you don't have to be a Sutter patient, it is just a community outreach for new moms. The group sits in a circle and each mom has the chance to talk about what is going on at home, in life, etc. Other moms respond, ask and answer quetions, cry, complain, laugh... meanwhile moms are breastfeeding, bottlefeeding... babies are crying... no one cares. It was a lifesaver for me. They meet every Tuesday from 9:30 - 11:30 @ 3100 Douglas Blvd. Suite #205. You can drop in anytime. Don't worry about getting there right at 9:30. Sometimes people show up for the last 1/2 hour due to baby naps, etc. Good luck and have fun.

Have you tried checking with the hospital where you delivered? For example, Sutter Roseville has a Moms support group and typically moms groups form out of that organized meeting.

Hi! Just wanted to let you know that there is a wonderful free mom's group through Sutter in Roseville. (You don't have be w/ Sutter either to go). It is for moms and babies (ages 0-6 months). I went with my daughter who is now 15 months and it was the best thing ever, such a wonderful group! It meets every Tuesday from 9:30-11:30, you can come late or leave early too! It is at 3100 Douglas Blvd. upstairs in the building. I can't remember the room # but it is the one with all the strollers parked outside! Hope that helps, this group was a life saver for me! From this group I have made some wonderful friends and we now have our own playgroups weekly. Check it out, you will not regret it!

I can relate to feeling anxiety about nursing in public. With my first daughter, I was really nervous about going out, but I just made myself do it because I found staying in all the time was driving me crazy. I didn't want to make anyone else feel uncomfortable while I nursed in public, so I completely covered myself up or I would nurse in private in the ladies room or in my car. I'm a stay at home mom of a 4 year old, and 1 year old (girls) in Roseville, and I think it's super important to connect with other moms. Have you tried a play group in Lincoln? Maybe when your son gets a little older you could join a baby gym class - I think you can start them at 6 months or maybe even sooner. There are many places here in Roseville. Good Luck!
