Seeking a Simiar Mommy Friend

This might be silly. But, I am a recent Olathe transpant. I moved from the Plaza area and there are a lot of differences. First of all other mothers on the plaza are not everywhere so when you see another mom with kids the same age as yours you tend to gravitate to each other and create a community. Here, SAHM's are everywhere and kids are everywhere. You would think that finding fellow moms to talk to and make playdates with would be easy. But, I have never seen so many none intersted mom's in meeting new people. They all have their "clicks" already. So, that leave a newby alone - I feel like it's High School again :) Of course I am being dramatic, but I would like to meet a few more moms that might be intested in park play dates and random non-kid functions for a chick flick and stuff. I need a Mommy Friend. Any takers?

What can I do next?

I can totally relate to how you feel. We live in Prairie Village and I haven't had much luck breaking through the mommy "cliques." I even tried a mom's club. It was horrible!

I'm hoping to frequent the park this summer and meet some moms.

I hope you meet some new friends soon!

One thing I have done to meet new people is being involved in a moms group at church. Most churches have some sort of program that is geared towards parents that stay home. I have found that women come from all types of churches to these groups. Sadly I can't promise that there won't be any cliques but it's worth a shot. I have heard that some moms are involved in Parents as Teachers playgroups as well. Good luck!

I have a moms group and I find that I have a hard time getting out as much as the other moms but we usually meet at the ceder ridge christian church in Thurs morning its the coffee chop and they have a gym and playroom. we also have a bible story time that meets on Monday mornings at different moms houses. It is a yahoo group all though we like to meet a few times and only have people we know join. not to be picky about the person but to make sure they really exist we dont want to have members looking on the info on the internet with addresses and stuff , but I would love to meet sometime I really like to just have one on one time with individual moms and kids and it is hard to find. I am 35 and I clean houses on Fridays and stay home with my 4 year old boy and my almost 2 year old boy. thanks

I can totally relate! I recently moved here from Wisconsin and I am having a really hard time meeting moms as well. I did also join a christian moms club and I don't seem to be having any luck with that route. I am a young mother of 3 (4yr., 2yr, and 1month), and I am also a SAHM. I live in Overland Park and would really like to meet more moms for playdates. Also, I am going to join a MOMS Club that I have heard great things about. If you are interested in finding a club or group then maybe that is something we could attend together. Of course, because of my 1month old I wouldn't be able to do non-kid stuff right away but playdates would be great. Let me know if you are interested.

You bet! I consider myself a SAHM; however, I work out of the house. How old are your kiddos? My twins are about to turn 1.
